First of all I love Coca Cola. But I can say that I love Coca-cola more when I was younger. I do not know why. Maybe because I have more options of what to drink now. When I was back home, we have no other choice for cold drinks but Coca-cola. But when I get the chance to live in another country, I get to see all diferrent kinds of Beverages that I can say, good for the health plus it does not contain chemicals that is dangerous to health. Let us talk about what is an Aspartame.
Aspartame is composed of two amino acids, aspartic acid and phenylalalanine, as the methyl ester. I am sure that we all know that amino acid is the building block of protein. Aspartic acid and phenylalanine are also found naturally in protein containing foods, including meats, grains, and dairy products. Methyl Ester are also found naturally in many foods such as food and vegetables and their juices.
Aspartame, a low-calorie sweetener with a clean, sweet, taste, provides many benefits including aiding in weight control as a sugar substitute, and extending and enhancing flavors. Also, aspartame does not promote tooth decay.
Many consumers have become victim of Aspartame. Internet email hoaxes. Although they may sound legitimate, you may be fooled.
The bottom line, Aspartame is safe.
So do not worry about buying cola zero.
I have stocks of Cola Zero and my housemates drink much. I always tell him, hey buddy, beware of Aspartame. Haha. Even if I know the fact about Aspartame, and he always believe in me, sometimes he will not drink.
Anyways, I hope you get a good information about this topic Aspartame.
Have a nice day and Happy Mylotting.
Keep Posting

I had purchased some aspartame packets to use in my tea, after a couple of months I began to experience an odd buzzing in my head every day, and the same thing was happening to my mother. We both decided to stop using aspartame, and to just use sugar. Well, our symptoms went away, so we stopped using aspartame altogether. Then I heard recently on "Coast to Coast" AM radio, that aspartame is poisoning people, and that it is extremely harmful to the brain. So now I am convinced that aspartame is bad, and I will avoid using it at all cost. Thanks for listening.

Most comments here I believe will be againsts the discussions I have started. I fully understand how people get information. But based on my research and studies, I have proven that the said aspartame is does not pose any danger. But then again, use properly.

I actually cannot distinguish the taste from coke zero, coke diet and the normal coke. It is just when I hear coke, I just drink it and finish. Hehe. I like to drink cola once in a while but not too much because it can cause to have a big belly. Do you think so?

Hello friend,
thanks a lot for posting such useful information. I am not much into Coca Cola, as I like sprite, dew and 7' up more. There was a thing or two about the pesticide thing few years back and that hit the market but I guess things have normalised now.
Secondly, I don't know what is Cola Zero. Here we get the normal coke and the Diet Coke, which is virtually free of calories.

Phenylalanine is under Aspartame. Therefore, as what people says here, it contain chemicals which pose danger to health. Then, why is it that the authority does not make any investigations to stop causing danger to people since softdrinks is widely available in the word, and I should say that people could also be addicted to it. Why not look for other alternatives to serve a best ingredients instead of countinually using the same chemicals.
Thanks
Jeff

I am not a chemist so i may be wrong, but i think that while aspartame is not toxic per se, it can create toxic compounds when it's molecule is broken by high temperature or in high acidity conditions.
Wikipedia says that aspartmae can be hydrolized in acid or alkaline environments releasing methanol, and italian wikipedia says that there has been a publication on european journal of oncology stating that aspartame use increases the chance of developing tumors in rats.
Aspartame metabolites include methanol and formaldheyde, that are toxic compounds.
I have just some basic knowledge of chemistry and biochemistry and i hope that i've not said anything too wrong :D

You are correct on that. Aspartame can create toxic compunds in the body. First of all I love diet sodas. I can't stand regular soda because of all the sugar. However, I have taken chemistry classes and biology classes in college. I have learned that yes Aspartame can cause problems and in large amounts it can become a serious problems. I believe if nature did not intend on us consuming unnatural chemicals then we should not be making them to consume. All the hormones that are in our livestocks are also a big problem. I am a firm beleiver all the health problems in people are beginning when man started to play God and use hormones to produce more meat. Yes this is helping the starvation crisis but is it worth the risk of poisoning the entire human race? Even though I drink diet soda, I do not drink that much of it. I eat the meat that has hormones but I don't live on a farm so I cannot do much about that.
