To have your own house or to rent one? If you rent one, you can change if you don t like your house, you are free to move when you want, other city too, you can live relax.
If is your house, you are more relax, don t pay every month a lot of money, and your kids will be sure that they have a good and safe place to live.
Do you have your own house? or try to buy one?

I own currently but I have rented in the past.
With owning my home, I save several hundred a month on what I would be paying for rent. That saved money can go towards repairs that need done.
Also, I am in total control of my fate. My home cannot be taken from me unless I stop paying rent.
With rentals, even though you pay the landlord, there is no law that states that they have to use that money and pay the mortgage that they have on the home you are renting.
I worked in a mortgage department for YEARS and I can't tell you how many times renters thought everything was okay until the Sherriff's notice was posted on the door.
There is also the issue of the landlord deciding to sell at any moment which means you could be evicted with the new owner. New owners do not have to allow you to stay there forever.
I think I would much rather own than rent so that I am in control over my own home situation.
Thanks for the discussion!!!

I own a home and I love my home so much... My kids love living in the house too, not apartment. I want them to feel like this is home and I own it and they own it... so, Im not end up with someone else that work for life but still renting a house from someone. It is a big investment but I desire what I need. When Im getting older than I am not worry about it anymore, no one will knock on my door asking for my rent payment.
I love to grown things around my house and love to see my kids running around with happy.
I used to rent an apartment and god, it was horrible. My neighbor argued almost everyday and heard foot steps went down the stair... screaming and god, Car garage was open almost 24/7

I live in an apartment but I do prefer to live in a house. I prefer to rent because I do not have to do upkeep on the premises. Renting can be better if you do not have time for such maintenance.

Yes, my husband and I currently own our own house. I wouldn't have it any other way. We bought this one immediately after moving to the Atlanta area. I refuse to ever pay rent again, if I can help it. Paying rent is like flushing money down the toilet. You aren't putting money towards an asset. You are just giving it to someone else so you can live there. You are essentially buying your right to live in someone else's space.
The only good thing about renting is that, when something goes wrong, you don't have to fix it, your landlord does. When you own your own house, either you luck out and have a husband who is a handyman (I'm not so lucky there), or you have to pay someone to fix it for you.
But, with a house, you have ultimate control in how you want your living space to look. You can paint walls or even knock them down if you want to. Most apartment complexes won't even let you paint. Some don't even want you putting holes in the walls with nails to hang pictures!
I spent many years of my young adult life renting and living with other people, and I am VERY happy to be done with that stage of my life!

I rent an apartment and I never want ot own a house! It has never been one of my life goals! When you rent you have a landlord to fix you stuff, like doors, leeks, and and putting on a new porch when some idiot backed into it damaging it! I also don't have to pay property taxes! Owning a house you have to make morgage paymenta and could lose it if you don't make payments! You have to do all you own maintence! I wouldn't want the hassle and the pain and finding someone realible to fix things! I'll stick with renting!

..for me its better to have my own house...cause if you have your own house you will less your money to pay a rent at all....and if you rent the your paying for that apartment must be the you will buy for the new house...and if you have a house you will never worry about the money you will pay for renting...

Hi icesmile my friend of myLot, Greetings
you may aware that there are merits and demerits of this type of discussion. as it was said that when one have "adquate funds" to own a house, it is every body dream, hope and it is fevorate topic. when one can not affor to own a house it is invariable one has no other option, that he has to compelled to stay in rented, whcih cost more that owning the house (but in instalments). so my dear, basing of the fact of availability of house hold budget,it is better to own his dream house, where himself and his family can relax, have peace of mind

I feel renting is much more convenient than owning a house renting is much cheaper and you can relocate with ease.. The landlord usually pays for repairs and things of that natue so it is little cost out of your pocket.

now,i'm living in a district garden that the company rent it for me.
in 2006, i help my family build a three-floors house in the countryside, very large and beautiful, though in the village. until now,i only have paid back all the fees, hehe
now,i consider it as my villa, lol
cause it's far away from the place where i'm working. i hope one day i can get married here and have another our own flat in the city. not so easy, as the house price is still so high.hehe

I still think it is better to have your own house. If you rent one, it at last belong to other no matter it is good or not. And you have no choice if they won't rent the house to you any more.

Now I and my husband rent one. But we are trying our best to buy a house. Because our baby will come out. I want to give a safe and stable environment to him.But I will stop work for about half years at least when our baby come out. So if we buy the house now, my husband will have very big pressure. So I also have a very conflicting mind.
Sometimes I think renting a house is not bad, if we do not like this city, we will go to the other one. But sometimes I think it is not very unsafe if have not a hourse of your own.

we own our own house and i dont know, i think that sometimes i would rather rent because there is a lot less hassle - when its time to move, you dont have to worry about selling the house, you can just pick up and leave. there are pros and cons though. having your own house is nice because you can do what you want.

I own my home but I have a mortgage payment every month like someone would if they were renting. Renting you don't have to deal with fixing things that may breakdown. Homeowners have to fix things that breakdown. When you rent you have to go by the rules that the landlord implements. When you own your own home its always to do what you wish.

We have our own house and we have also own the lot somewhere in Cogyo, because investing for it is good, you dont bother where to get money to pay your rental home, you can feel relax and comfortable and you can do alot of things without bothering the owner of the house, you money will proceed paying for water electric bill, water bill, internet bill, and food and other necessities in life, before since my mother and father get married they try to rent house until i born, they experience to pay rent every month add on their expencess.

I did live in a house that I owned, but in '04 I had to sell it and move. I now live in an apartment. While the apartment is nice with the dishwasher that I didn't have before, the size is small compared to the house. And I know from my sister who has lived in rented houses for years and she pretty much doesn't like it, she can't really decorate to her taste.
The things that need to be repaired she to really get on the landlords back to get fixed and then the handyman the guy hired did a half ***** job.
and she still had problems with it. So I think that it is better to own your own home you hopefully have to room to sprawl out, decorate and just enjoy, but then you do have the maintenance to consider.

I own my home right now but I rented for about 6 years prior. There are always pros and cons with every situation. But for me here is how it goes:
Rent: Pro
Dont have to fix stuff if it breaks
No yard work
Cons:
Live by landlord rules
Rent can go up for whatever reason
No marks/holes on the walls
No painting the walls
Rent goes into landlord pocket
Sometimes rent is just as much as it is to purchase
Own: Pro
Can do what ever to the house
Monthly mortgage actually goes toward something
bigger better surroundings
Con:
fix stuff if it breaks
Yard work

I think it's better to own a home than to rent one, renting seems like sort of a waste of money to me. You're paying money to rent a house that you don't always know how long you'll be able to stay at. Yet when you own a home you're still paying money for it but for something that is yours and that you'll (hopefully) have until you decide you no longer want to own it
