There are many ways to generate web traffic, but you don't want to attract just anyone to your site unless you have a very broad market. You must be able to attract your target audience so that you have a higher sales conversion rate, which is based on the number of visitors that actually buy from you. Perhaps your goal is not sales, but list building-the principles are the same. Not all traffic is created equal.
Carefully consider where you will focus your internet marketing efforts before you begin trying to generate web traffic. You will need to be sure that you are choosing sites that have a high page rank, high traffic, and are visited by your target market. There is no point in wasting time and hard work on placing links, articles and ads where your target market will never see them.

Make sure that these types of sites have a high page rank, are visited often by your target market, and in addition have categories to suit your particular niche.
You will not get very far if you are posting in the wrong categories, or if you use ads and articles that are not well associated with your niche and website. It never pays to be misleading. Instead, make sure that you are perfectly clear and upfront about the focus of your site before they click on the link, so there are no surprises. This is the best way to keep conversion rates up and bounce rates down.
