Should I join Facebook?

What does everyone think? Should I join Facebook? I have been considering it for some time. The main reason I really haven't checked it out is because I was a member of mySpace for some time and it really seemed to be very time consuming. Also, I didn't seem to get anything constructive out of the site. How does Facebook compare? I really haven't even checked it out yet. Although, some of my friends have told me if I want to see pics from the party (for example) just go to their page on Facebook. Of course, I have to be a member before I can look at their pics. So what do you think? Should I join? How often do you visit your Facebook page? Is it very time consuming? Have you found it profitable?

You should join facebook, first reason because facebook is larger than myspace. I've checked at alexa rating, faebook rating is 4 times more popular than myspace, that's mean the network of friendship you build on facebook could have bigger possibility to grow, whether is just for friendship, or even to do business like promoting your online business or something else. It's not time consuming, it's the same like checking your email, do you think it's time consuming? For me it's not. You actually saving your time of searching your old friend via facebook. If you want to find your old and lost friend, such as your kidergarden friend, facebook automatically will search it for you, saving time of course. I checked my FB everyday, and almost everyday FB automated friend finder system showing me suggestion of my old friend. Sometimes I get shocked, because I never imagine will find them again in my life, but FB "magically" find them for me. It's fun and no need big effort to maintenance, as well as your email account.

Thanks for sharing your experience here aerous. I am not familiar with Friendster either, although I have heard of it. Maybe I should check it out as well. I have a lot of free information worth sharing with my friends and others who enjoy freebies. I hope that I can make a go of it. Thank you for your response in this discussion, and have a great day here on myLot!

Well, I believe that everyone here has just about got me talked into joining Facebook. Now it is just a matter of finding time to do so. I think I will be able to do so around Monday or Tuesday of next week. Once things slow down a bit and I can evaluate the site. Thank you so much for your response in this discussion, and I hope you have a good evening here on myLot!

Social networks exist for that purpose: social networking. As you said, people use it to share pictures, information, etc. with a large number of friends at once. Remember, this is the intended purpose, that's not to say people only use it for those reasons. I wouldn't consider it too time consuming. Nearly everything that involves you will be sent to you as a 'notification', meaning once you have gone through the list and gotten yourself caught up with all that is happening, you're free to close the damn page and go do something else. But then I am not sure what is so time consuming about Myspace for you, perhaps if you give an example I can better answer your question. I can't answer the profitability question.
