hi friends, i'm new here. I need your help. I was about to change my old template by a wordpress adaptation one, its perfectly good but the problem is that my previous gadgets are going to be deleted once I will save my new template. What to do to save my sidebar widgets? I need somebody's help please.

well... you can save each & every gadgets you've had from your previous template... Just copy & paste the html to notepad... then load it again after you upgraded your template to a new one... or you can download your present template XML as back-up, so if anything goes wrong, you'd be able to bring it back to it's old state... I suggest, you take a look at your old template's contents by going to your Layout page them Edit HTML... look to where your gadgets are located in the scripts & familiarize yourself in how to insert your gadget scripts in your new template... It's a bit difficult at first but once you find your way through it, then you're all good! Btw, I have visited your blog once, & it looks neat to me. It gives me an impression, how well you are in handling your personal things in real life.
If you have time to visit mine too, I'd be happy to see your name on it. Goodluck!

thanks, but it doesn't seem to be effective. my other widgets were retained, but some are not coz there are already pre-existing widgets on my new blog, having the same id. some were not recovered, but i managed to make another new. I really love blogger. I can play with it.

I have copied sidebar widget html codes, as noted above, to re insert them when changing from a 3 to 4 column template. Bit slow, but it works. Remember you might have to copy custom html codes (e.g. tracking codes, or any modification codes, etc) from within your post body or reapply them.

yes, that's what i did. and it seemed to be effective.
i'm playing with my blog now, the original template is 2 columned, but i'm trying to add one more on the other side, so that navigation would be faster, more options, more gadgets, space is maximized..
