How much did you gain when you were pregnant?

I gained at least 60 POUNDS! Ugh. Still trying to lose the last twenty and my kid is 20 mos old. It's hard to lose once you have a little one, I think. At least it is for me. I was just happy to have a healthy baby, so it's ok. I know I will lose it eventually. I've been doing Weight Watchers, but haven't been super committed. You?

Congrats! Sounds like a healthy baby. 101 sounds pretty tiny. Maybe you needed a little extra? I dunno. Either way, best wishes for you and your family!

wow, that's quite a big difference! Did you say, "I'm NOT gonna gain this much with the second one!" or did it just happen naturally? Or maybe, you still had the extra from the first and didn't need anymore. Your body felt fine. :) Mine decided it needed everything in sight and would hold onto it. Still does!

I gained between 20 to 25 pounds with each pregnancy (2). I'm quite surprised I didn't gain more since I didn't have the best diet in the first place.

with my first daughter I gained 62 lbs. I felt nauseous all the time and eating made it go away. With my second daughter I gained 42 lbs. she is now 7 months old, and I only have 4 lbs lft to lose from her, and 10 lbs left from my pregnancy with my 2 1/2 year old daughter.

See--I had the same thing--eating made the nausea go away. And not eating fruit or veggies--that made me sick. I had to eat things like macaroni and cheese or grilled cheese. basically carbs and dairy. Good for you on losing so much already. That's amazing, I think.

I only gained 10 pounds. People who didn’t really know me that well, didn’t even know that I was pregnant.

Wow. I think it is amazing how we can all have so many different experiences while having the same experience, pregnancy and childbirth.

I was 115 whern I got pregnant, at full term I was 155. In 2 months I was back down to 115. I statyed at 115 until my son was 4 and then I got hips and have been struggling to keep my weight below 130 ever since.

I was one of those people who got pregnant and just looked fat. I have no clue how I lost the weight so quickly. Almost immediately after giving birth I was down to 130. I guess I was carrying more baby weight than I thought.

wow. I actually GAINED after giving birth--that was a bummer. But I had a c-section and I swelled up even worse afterwards. Ugh. Glad that's over!

With the first pregnancy, I delivered 2 weeks past my due date and had gained 27 pounds. The second time around, I delivered my twins 5 weeks early and gained 27 pounds. Weird.
Both times, I didn't have too much trouble losing the pregnancy weight. I had a much harder time keeping my weight in check once those babies were old enough to enjoy baking with mom. :O)

Wow, that is weird. You just like to gain 27 lbs. You are too funny on the baking. Dh is currently baking rolls that he keeps threatening are "big and ugly" but now he is relenting and saying "They're not so big. They're ugly, though, I'll give 'em that." LOL. Good to see you here, Inklings. Thanks for the comment!

Oh my I wish all I gained with my first was 60 pounds. I gained 103 because I had preeclaympsia. All of it was mostly water wait and the sad part was that I didn't put it on till the last 3 months which I was overdue by 3 weeks. The good news is I dropped it quickly and then some pre pregnancy weight also that I needed to lose. Now with my second both of my kids are girls I gained 25 and lost all of it now I am working on the pre pregnancy weight lost 22 more so far. My kids are 5 years apart so I put on some inbetween lol.

I gained about 60 with my first and luckily only 25 with my second. I am still 10 lbs more then when I got pregnant with my first. And my youngest is almost 3 1/2! So 20months insn't so bad! Just enjoy your baby the weight isn't as important as your little one.

I think a lot of it was stress, I was a stress eater. And, my baby could not go outside for a long time after she was born. She was 7 weeks early, developed pneumonia, RSV and seasonal allergies all within her first weeks of life. So, I was trapped in the house for almost 4 months with all that....couldn't get a job because No daycare would keep her because she was so sick, and I didn't have any family in the area at the time. It was stressful!!

Oh NO! How weird. But I can see how that might happen. It is hard to stay active sometimes with a little one. And if you nursed her, too--I got very hungry (and still do!) with nursing.

I was about 115 pre-babies.
I gainesd 28 pounds with my son. And I lost most of the weight pretty quickly.
And then I got pregnant almost right away with my daughter. With her I had hyperemsis (extreme morning sickness) and actually lost about 20 pounds.
She's 3 months & 6 days old & I weighed myself last night & I was shocked! I'm was 99 lbs.!

Oh my Goodness! Congrats on your babies!! I'm sorry about the morning sickness. I didn't have much, but I know women who have, and it can be really rough. You need to eat something, Girl. Go order some Papa John's. Now. Go. Go on. :)

I have had 7 kids and gained differently with each of them. I varied from gaining 40 to 60 lbs. Of course, the more weight gained were the larger boys. LOL
While it is not easy to loose the weight, you have to remember it took you 40 weeks to gain it. So it will take you double the time to loose it...not including the recovery time.
Give yourself time. Once you commit, you will get there. Think positive and you will succeed!

You have a lot of good points there. I had a boy as well. I have tried to be gentle with myself as there have been a lot of difficulties and changes since my son was born. My husband is also rail-thin and can and does eat whatever he wants, so that doesn't help! AND, he's a great cook. :) Thanks for your support. I do keep committing, but then for some reason I don't stay committed in the face of cookies! You look pretty amazing for having had 7 kids! I can't even IMAGINE it! Good for you!

I was so sick i actually lost 20 pounds, then towards the end i gained that 20 back along with 22 more. When i was 7 months pregnant you could not even tell. People told me i was lying and was not pregnant. That happened with both kids, which was great for me cause i didnt have to wear maturnity clothes, i just bought large shirts and wore sweat pants the last 2 months, lol.

Nice on the maternity clothes savings. Heck, I think I still sometimes wear maternity clothes. I even considered a maternity dress recently. LOL. I'm so sorry that people accused you of lying about your pregnancy. That is obnoxious behavior!

My wife lost weight during her first, gained 3 pounds her second and has lost so far this time. She has hyperemesis gravidarum, or really bad morning sickness.
@sexysilver (928)

I had hyperemesis with my second. It can make you miserable. My OB didn't want to listen to me, but she listened to my husband. Make sure your wife's OB takes care of this - or get her a different OB. I spent most of my pregnancy in the hospital & was miserable through the whole pregnancy.
I was eventually put on Zofran. It is an anti-nausea medicine that can be used during pregnancy, but only if necessary.
Hope your wife gets some medication to help her. How far along is she?

Wow. Someone else said that, too. That has got to be very difficult. I think I'd rather have all this weight to lose 2 years later. My best to her. I hope she finds some relief. Congrats on the babies!
