Here's a simple & easy thing that will come handy in the future. Usually, during the reinstallation of Windows XP, all data from your PC will be lost. But by following these tips, you'll be able to reinstall your OS without losing your data, your personal documents, sttings, parameters, and installed programs. XP and the DOS Command Prompt gives us the chance to save evrything. The OS will simply reinstall the essentila file needed for the functioning of the system, while the rest remains intact! Before you begin, you must insert the CD/DVD of your Windows XP installer in your drive. Then go to Start Run, and type cmd In the DOS window you must type "X:\i386\winnt32\unattend"(change the letter X for the the drive you're currently using your OS CD/DVD), and just let your machine do the rest. Now you have a way to reinstall everything without losing anything... NOTE: This has only been tested in Windows XP, so don't try it with any other OS, ok!? Enjoy... More Computer/PC tips to come.

there is another simple way of installing windows xp without loosing data a insert your xp cd and boot into the setup b after necessary components are loaded into ram, you will get a message to hit enter to enter setup and r to repair.. press enter here c now press f8 to accept EULA d now instead of pressing enter , press R button... this will begin the repair phase where setup only deletes most of windows components (dll,exe,xml..) in windows directory and starts copying fresh components from cd.. it wont delete any installed programs or only files outside windows directory but system files inside Windows directory is deleted.. e after the setup is completed you will be left with same desktop that you had before reinstalling but the windows will be repaired.. and all its dll'd and other components will new.. this kind of installation is useful when windows is fully corrupted and even system restore wont work..
