I am by no means a DT expert, in fact I have only just started to listen to them this year. It seems like this album was hyped like crazy, and although I like it (3.5/5 from me) it seems like for others it is a love or hate album. Some say it's the best they've ever done, others say they are copying themselves and it's nothing new. The Count of Tuscany is a great epic, though. So, what say you?

This album is awesome friend, and I can say that black clouds and silver linings is one of the best albums from almost 25 years their career in music. Every single has a good and powerful music, and you gonna be loved when you heard their melodic playing music in the middle of the song. And my favorite would be A rite of passage and Shattered fortress.
For me, i have know this band for the past 7 years, although it's a little bit to late and i have almost the albums from the very beginning (majesty) until black clouds & silver linings. Their music keep growing and they always give their fans a new surprise in the music.
And this is a rare band that still exist in this world, which keep their musical identity, so you will feel different and get more spirit when hear you it. And you gonna love them when you see their live concert or video concert. They are awesome

Yes, totally agreed. They are a really special band, that keep working hard to give to their fans awesome music and also give some of the best live performances ever, always with emotion, special moments and a lot of creativity. I've 7 of their albums, a live album and the EP.
About BSCL, My favorite musics are: The Count Of Tuscany and A Nightmare to Remember. (for now)
It's a nice album, with a good mix of musics and 4 great epics, it is on my top 5 (of the 10 albums).
It gets 8,5/10 from me.

I actually liked Black Clouds and Silver Linings. :) One thing I like ab out Dream Theater is they try to re-invent themselves every album. You kinda get something different every time. But if I were to choose a favorite album, I'd have to go with Scenes From A Memory and Falling Into Infinity. I love the songs in those albums. :)
