It’s just a couple weeks until the annual Hot Air Balloon Jubilee in my home town. So what does this mean? Oh, I admit it – I’m a balloon junkie! That weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) I’ll be chasing hot air balloons and taking hundreds of photos – love my digital camera, can take 750 shots without having to download.
So, confess are you a junkie? Is there something, an event, activity, place whatever that you need a regular ‘fix’ of or just can’t seem to get enough of?
In gearing up for this year’s jubilee I’ve uploaded a slide show of Hot Air Balloon photos from past years to Associated Content as well as published an article about years past Balloon Jubilees (link to AC on profile).
Do you find yourself warming up for your junkie fix?

If you want to share your photos and be paid, pm me. I have some photos of my crafts and pets on this particular site. Sounds like a fun time. Enjoy your balloon chasing this weekend.
Guess I could say I am a casino junkie. Love to play Keno when I have the time and money. Also am a craft junkie. Am always working on something made with plastic canvas. I have completed projects all over the house and several in our garage also. It's a nasty day here today so might just stay here and work on a parrot tinker box I started.
Have a great weekend,

I actually uploaded several to the 'hot air balloon' category under hobbies I enjoy here on mylot - would love it if you visited those, am going to add a few more shortly.
I'm funny with crafts - I'll be crazy working on things for a month or so then get burned out or side tracked and don't do anything for months and months.
Parrot tinker box sounds interesting I want to see photos when finished :)

We used to have a real nice balloon festival here, usually 25-30 balloons. then some genius got the idea to spread it all over the county and we stopped going.
But when we would go, we would get there at 5 AM, with the kids on their roller blades and we would watch them set up the balloons, one time my husband and myself just came with Matt, my son who was about 10 or 11 at the time. He was scared of heights and my husband helped one of the balloonist set up the his balloon and they asked us if Matt would like to go. Matt jumped at the chance (to my surprise...it took me almost 2 hours one time to get him down the Statue of Liberty-- I did the whole thing backwards and he went down on his butt one step at a time). Well Matt loved it, we went in the chase car.
Matt said the cold air from the Hudson just sucked them down and the basket briefly touched the water before the pilot started the burn.
One time, years later when I asked him what were his favorite things he remembered from his childhood, the balloon ride was #1 followed by the week at Disney. After that came hockey tournaments and camps. Never did he mention his father as doing something memorable with him. He told my husband (his stepfather) Happy father's day..but not his biological father.

Oh that would be so romantic - I hear when they turn off the burners and just 'go with the wind' it's amazing... It's on my list of things to do when I can afford it :)

Would you believe I've never been in one, a hot air balloon that is. I too am afraid of heights but if I had the chance would in a heart beat. Could strangle my oldest son - who is also afraid of heights. One year a balloon landed in our yard and the courtesy thing to do is offer the home owner a ride. Well, I wasn't home so they offered to my son who was baby-sitting 2 younger kids at the time, neighbor even offered to watch the kids while he took the ride... he declined saying 'Mom would kill him if he did' - I wouldn't have but was excuse for him NOT to take the ride.

I really love the mass launches where 50 or so lift off at the same time but I think greatest thrill has been looking right up inside the balloon when their just over your head - on time one lifted of was not 15-20 above us :)

Hi Byfaithonly,
Its almost 2 years that I am loggin to Mylot now. So, thought to start with comment on your discussion.
Well for me Music is everything, I am addicted for music or you cant say I am a juckie. I love all kind of music and you will find different kind of music on my phone. I just plug my head phone whenever I get time. I prefer to listen them and also understand the song. It makes listening of music and song more meaningful.

Wow has been a long time I'm honored you decided to respond to my discussion. I pray all is well with you.
I love music also but honestly don't listen as much as I used to - always in the car when driving though.

I love hot air balloons although I have never been in one. I think that they are beautiful and I would take a lot of photos too. I will have to check out the stuff on AC as I am also writing on there now too. I would have to say that I am a computer junkie as I love to be on my computer and play games and write and mylot.
Glad to see you here again. I have missed seeing you as much.

Oh definately! This probably sounds weird to some people, but I am an entertaining junkie! I would be perfectly happy if I were cooking for a huge crowd every night and we had company for dinner or a movie or just to come hang out and watch a ball game. I think it's from having teenagers in the house for all those years, and having the guys show up around dinner time.

Oh I like the sounds of that - I used to love entertaining, bigger crowd the better, but got burned out or something and just haven't been into it or maybe just don't have the opportunities I used to.

I don't know if I would consider myself a hot air balloon junkie, but I do think they are very cool, and very fascinating. When ever I see one or more I love to just watch them. I think they are so cool, and colorful and the way they work is amazing. I would like to go on one, but I think it would be kind of scary too, but probably really amazing at the same time, flying up in the sky.
