Ideas for generating referrals

I was just wondering what kinds of things you can do to get more referrals. I have added my referral URL to my sig at another forum but I haven't even got one referral yet. What kinds of things/places can we post them to get some interest?

HEYDUDE IF U ARE USING ORKUT THEN I THINK ALL THOSE PEOPLE CONNECTED TO YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS SHOULD BE OF GOOD HELP TO GENERATE MONEY THRU REFERRAL I HOPE IT COME HANDY AND USE THEIR EMAIL ID TO SEND THEM AN INVITATION
