I'm thinking of getting a license, but it is quite costly, so I was wondering if I could hear from anybody who has already gotten PADI certified.

Hi I am a PADI Master Instructor and if I may I would like to answer your question. There are many Diving organisations to choose from but PADI is the largest one in the world. It has a tried and tested way of taking a person through the steps to becoming a scuba diver. I am more than happy to explain more if you want just hit reply and ask what ever you like

PADI,NAUI,SSI,all just acronyms for certification agencies,PADI is the one that is most recognise and acknowledged.A PADI certified diver means they have learned scuba based on the PADI sylabus,a proven n very safe way to learn diving,i am a PADI dive instructor n have been for many years, and i haf to say, though not much difference between learning from various Diver training agencies, just that PADI being so big worldwide had the best n most professional n comprehensive safety support n education inplace.i do have a blog for beginner divers or anyone considering taking up scuba but with questions, its a work in progress but i think there is enuff material there to cover some of your queries.feel free to pm me if u have more inquiries or concerns about scuba diving,be glad to answer them. http://scubadiversions.blogspot.com
