I think Windows is better.. It is user friendlier than linux OS.. And the compatibility issue also is in favour of windows.. And in windows i prefer Xp for vista..

i think if you want change your os and so you want more safe and fast too so i think you should try some distribution of linux!!so i think for different pruposes there are distrubution suitable for every needs!!if you refer o a business needs i think opensuse fro novell or redhat should be ok...or for personal use ubuntu and mandriva i think they are improved!!if you are a fanatic of more unix based os may be slackware should really improved and you will become crazy for that!!So i think lnux is a ood choice apart other os ...surely you must work a bit when you start to adapt it to your needs and aim but ther eis not so difficult as many people guess when they first approach to the linux os too!!

I guess Windows not getting worse and worse, it may be because your previous softwares which you were using in Windows 98, are not running in XP and which runs in XP are not able to withstand in Vista.. but this is how it runs.. you can't expect dial up net speed when you are having broadband. try with latest versions of your softwares (if not available then it's not fault of Microsoft of course ) by the way coming to your question. Best Operating System.. well for user wise I prefer Vista as the best one and as a software developer I love to work on Linux (Fedora/Red Hat)..

Hello, I agree that windows is getting worse and worse. The latest buzz is around linux and mac these days. I personally prefer windows mainly due to compatibility with various types of software and hardware. I am always thinking that some day or other windows will improve and give us best results....let's see...

Who gonna create virus for linux? There no sense for hacker to make a virus on linux cause they wont get anything on that os. And also linux is created by different programmers. It mean the os is base on the programmers not by company.

Did hear or tried with Linux operating system? My laptop is IBM Thinkpad R51. I have installed two operating system - Windows and Ubuntu 8.04. Both system are running good, fast, and stable. I like very much with ubuntu because it is free and no virus for basic usage like office work and internet. But you have discover own if you like to connect your device. For that, windows is winner since all driver is based on windows. On daily used I prefer to used ubuntu 8.04...

I also use Windows, but I only look okay. Maybe you need to explain what is worse from Windows, that can be discussed. There have been no operating system is more popular than Windows.

well, i am using an apple mac for the last 1 year and am enjoying it. it is leopard version and no ne has written a virus for this too. so i do not have to bother about having antivirus programs too. it is such a hassle free and easy to use OS. before this, i was working with Windows all the while and it was such a pain to keep updating antivirus programs, keep scanning the computer and so and so forth. it is such a breeze now.

MAC and Linux are the best for Laptops but Mac is a bit expensive so I suggest linux.
