I just walked to the corner store with my Wife to get some bread and milk and coouldn't believe how hot it was outside! Last week it was above 40 degrees celsius on a few of the days and I keep thinking back to one day last summer here when it was 47! I'm in Cairo, Egypt, so of course it's gonna be hot, but seriously??? Based on all of this, I immediately started to think of silly phrases to describe how hot it is and here are a few I've come up with so far: - It's hotter than satan's sphincter the morning after a night of all-you-can-eat peppers! - It's hotter than the last remaining MJ funeral ticket! - It's hotter than a naked woman at a 40 year old male virgin convention! - It's hotter than a drowned ant in a lava lamp! So how hot is it getting up your way then? Any silly phrases you'd like to add?

hotter than... taking a sauna in a PVC jumpsuit (just for the record,I have no experience of either) ... Dante's inferno ...jumping out of the frying pan into the fire - tho,(I'm sure some scientifically minded person can put me straight on this one) how does the temperature of hot fat compare with that of a fire? ... a gentleman pointing at the porcelain having forgotten to wash his hands after handling chilli seeds We had 6 shiny new fans delivered to the ward last weekend... one for each bay and one for the corridor but, we couldn't use them until they were checked over by the electricians . They finally brought them into use at 15:10 yeterday... my shift finished at 15:15

"... a gentleman pointing at the porcelain having forgotten to wash his hands after handling chilli seeds" Good GOD Wizzy, I think my own genitals just winced! LMAO. What the heck are people doing in a frypan in the first place, that's what I wish to know? And you got 5 minutes of new fan experience? Talk about living the dream! We have just the 1 fan at home and no air conditioning. It's an absolute nightmare and most days it DOES feel like I'm in a sauna while wearing a PVC jumpsuit. (Which we all know you have a secret desire to try yourself, so don't go getting all coy on me)

Trust me... having done 6 x 8hour shifts in the last 8 days I have no desire to discover the delights or otherwise of the PVC jumpsuit in a sauna experience!! The uniform, plus the plastic apron, plus the latex gloves, plus having the curtains drawn round the bed as you single-handedly try to manouevre large, elderly, incontinent people into positions where you can change their bedsheets from underneath them must give a similar sensation and it is NOT pleasant(going to the regular job was no better either ) I was going to offer 'hotter than a wrestlers jock strap' but I'm glad I didnt because I dread to think what you'd accuse me of then!!

We haven't had such hot days yet, but if the weatherman is right then they are certainly coming our way. We have had days of 30 degrees celcius and over, which can be pretty hot if there is no wind at all and if it doesn't rain for days or even a couple of weeks. Off course Egypt is going to be a lot warmer than Holland, but 47 degrees celcius? Good lord, no wonder you are melting . I wish you a bunch of ice-cubes and all the best! Silly Phrase: It's hotter than a panda spanked with a flaming bamboo rod.

I'll excuse you in an instant knowing it gets so hot there! Yep, we do get very hot days here during summer, and we sometimes get a little snow in the winter. When I was young we would have snow more often and when my parents were kids every winter. Seems like global warming is taking it's toll. Usually it doesn't get that hot in here, but we do have a couple of very, very hot days and some less (but still very hot if you are not used to it, lol) summer weeks. Searches eBay for "worlds biggest ice cube"

Believe it or not, but in all my travels, I STILL haven't ever seen snow yet! Please let me know if anything comes up on ebay as I came up with nothing but blanks. And more importantly, if you DO find something on there, how the heck do they plan to ship it???

Flaming bamboo rods! I can smell it even when just thinking about it! It hasn't been 47 yet this time around, but this was one of the days last summer. What was really horrendous about this particular day was that it was really windy as well! It was like having the air looking to scorch the skin off your face and I've never experienced anything like it. I have no doubt that it will get up to the mid 40's and above within the next month or so and I'm really not looking forward to it at all. So far, the highest recent temperature has been 41. 30+ for Holland sure sounds hot too! I never realised it got that high there. Now, you'll have to excuse me as I'm planning on making the world's biggest ice cube somehow so I can carve it into a sofa! lol.

Well, it started drizzling about 3 pm here..and worked it self into a steady rain for awhile..till 11:30 pm what fireworks,we had most fizzled out..but the kids enjoyed those few that didn't. Now those are some great phrases..I doubt I could come up with any better then what I have seen the others come up with. Hotter then $50 rings at a pawn shop.. Hotter as Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke... Hotter as a guy after a 25 year jail sentence.. and a silly one for my brother in law...Hotter then a lit fart..

You could always stand in the shower with your eyes closed and think of rain..and imagine your standing in the rain.. I know it probably wouldn't work..Have you ever froze gallon jugs of water and set behind the fan? It does give off a slight cooler breeze sometimes. But in your case it would be melted in 20 minutes..so you would have to have a ton truck of jugs ready. maybe you can do a rain dance..might work for you.

A rain dance may be just the ticket! I can imagine the odd looks I'll get too as I stand out enough as it is! I'm already having cold showers these days and occasionally my Wife and I will fill up the bathtub with cold water and I'll sit in it. It's funny actually because I come home from work and my Wife will ask me: "Are you going to go for a swim?" lol. Jugs of frozen ice sound wonderful too, but unfortunately we have a very tiny freezer.

Gosh!!James, why do you always insist on trying to conjure up silly things it can't do???? I can't come up with any silly phrases for that....and I never even thought of it growing up. lol..grew up in the Middle East...and there were days when it reached 50!!! Well, we ought to get a public holiday if it gets that hot....but these smarties set the information tower to not go beyond 49!!And there are people who work outside in this heat!!! hmmm how about...it's hotter than an Andhra meal..lol...only Indians would understand what I mean....guess Mexican dishes are as spicy too? Can't think of anything else and am in no mood to rack my brains on an occassional visit to mylot!

okay...so hotter than a Jabareno chilli it is!! I'm in no mood to torture myself either....till a year back, I couldn't stand any spicy food...and it's only in the past year that I've conditioned myself to 'like' it. I'm not going to try any Jabareno chilli...it might put me off spicy food for the rest of my life...and I wouldn't be able to survive in India then! hmmm...occassional spasms...seems more like frequent spasms....most your discussions expect me to use my head...not in an intellectual way! Makes me think in a whacky way.....well...after a week of whacky kiddo questions, I don't want to be doing that here too!

Aren't you glad I'm not in one of your classes then? I guess my own circumstances are very different to yours because I spend most of my time having to be so damn serious at my job, so the whackiness is somewhat of an escape for me. Maybe if I had a career as a clown, on here I'd want to be serious all the time instead? At least I don't take it to the ultimately annoying kiddie level and ask "Why?" every 5 seconds! lol. Just to give you an idea on how hot these Jabanero's are, here's a video of a teenager eating one. It looks like the poor buggers gonna have a heart attack! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8ip5oGlMfU&feature=fvst (And my apologies as it seems that Habanero is actually spelt with an H and not a J)

It just wouldn't be right if I didn't cause the occasional brain to go into spasms now would it? Anyways, when you're borderline irritable like you seem to be today, it's a heck of a lot for fun for me too! I remember discussing your time in the Middle East in the past and this region is undoubtedly one of the hottest of them all! What you've shared about them being smart in telling people the temperature is no higher than 49 is oh so true too. If it reaches 50 or beyond, everything shuts down and they don't want that! I don't think I've ever had an Andhra meal before either, but I love spicy food so now I really do have to work out some way to try it. Mexican is psicy I guess, but if you really want to torture yourself, try and get hold of a Jabanero chili.

I wouldnt do well at the phrases but I know what you mean by hot. Here in Jamaica it even made it on the news which it never really does other than in the weather report. It was 35 degrees cel at one end of the island and 33 at the other. I went to the hair dresser and it was misery. The dryer heat plus the natural heat was murder on the sweat glands even though the salon was air conditioned. I would never like to for it to get to 40 degrees cel here. I sure people here would start falling from exhaustion. 35 degrees was enough.

Being in the middle of a heatwave AND having to sit under one of those salon hairdryer's sounds like torture! At least you get to leave with nice hair though! lol. Given the temperatures here in Cairo lately and the even hotter ones I know are still to come, I wouldn't mind a couple of 35 degree days! It would feel like a cold snap at the moment! Still damn hot though and especially if there's humidity as well which I assume there would be in Jamaica.

The last two days were so hot and yes humid. I cant remember the last time I felt such torture here and at nights too. Outside the house tends to be so cool and nice at nice we have to keep the door open sometimes until 10pm for the past two nights. I never usually pay attention to the tempreture but the yesterday and the day before made me take note. Just cant imagine having to deal with much more heat. I guess you are used to it by this. Tonight, well actually to day was not so bad at all. Hopefully that is a sign things are cooling down. There was a nice breeze at times yesterday as well but I guess the sun was just hell bent on accomplishing what it set out to do.

Gosh I just got hotter reading through this You sure have got it hot over there James and I don't envy you one little bit. It's hot where I am in Italy too but only in the daytime at them moemnt. Every evening for about the last ten days a storm brews up just before dusk and thunder and heavy rain cool it all down ready for the next day. I'm lucky that I work in the evenings (well I'm supposed to but if there's nothing doing I'm on here like now ) and it'scool inmy home during the day and A/C here if I need it in the evenings. I never use it though because the storms cool everything down such a lot. I can't think of anything hotter than salame piccante and anyone that has Italian in their blood will know what that is - I daren't even dare to taste it any more

I've had salame piccante before and it sure is spicy! Tasty too though. I've always loved spicy foods. An evening storm with heavy rain and thunder sounds like absolute bliss! I miss this in summer in my home state of Australia. We'd have hot and humid days and then a tropical storm would sweep in and eventually all the heat would disappear for a while. It was fantastic to stand out there in the heavy rain and get absolutely drenched to the bone, yet not even feel the slightest bit cold. Just refreshed! Sigh, you never realise how much you miss something like that until you've gone so long without it. There's no air conditioning in my aprtment either I'm afraid, so you can imagine how uncomfortable it can sometimes get. Thankfully though, inside isn't so bad and it's only when you get out into the sunlight itself that you really feel the heat. Do me a favour and stand out in the next storm for me will ya? lol.

I would have stood outside if there had been no lightening with it. There was hail stones too so I couldn't - and I was at work anyway. Once again I've come (after midnight as usual) and it is lovely and cool again. The forecast is for this sort of weather to continue for some days yet and I'm all for it. I don't like tobe out in the heat but that's no problem and a storm every evening, as long as it does no damage, is fine by me I'll try for you on Monday cos I'm off! As for spicy foods - when they also really hot like that is I pass. they play havoc on my sinus problems

I love the last one especially and reckon I'd pay good money to see a fight like that! 70 degress sounds like absolute bliss to me at the moment, but it'll be a good six months or so before I see temperatures like that here. Jeez, even a spot of rain would be good, but no chance there either I don't think. By the way, do you think there's much of a market for bird sized potholders? We could also market them as nipple covers and really clean up if we get it right.
• United States
5 Jul 09
I wouldn't waste the money on the prototype. Even as nipple covers, unless we got to use Hedonism in Jamaica as our test market and wrote the trip off on our taxes. Otherwise...I'll wait until a more lucrative venture comes along. And as an after thought, for some reason I thought you were in Australia all this time. Have you always been in Cairo?

Question: where is a snake's butt? I'm not fond of snakes - I don't like the whole slithering and swiisshhing and rattling (if it was a rattle snake). Not good visuals. yuck! Hahahahahaha - I love how random everyone is in here. "Panda Spanking" is such a welcome discussion group after a day of "Sarah Palin Shocker" or "California Budget issues" or "Republican this, Democrat that." Those are EXTREMELY exhausting. By the way - it is 64 degrees Fahrenheit in sunny Socali right now. The fog has "burned off" and the day is bright again. Sorry, no "it's hotter than..." comment here. Move along!

Actually that's a pretty good question. Where the heck IS a snake's butt??? I'm glad to hear that you like the randomness of this interest group too because this is the entire point of it all! If the realities of the world are getting too repetitive, then spank a damn panda! 64 degrees doesn't sound so bad at all! I wouldn't mind a temperature like that at the moment. Right this minute in Cairo, it's almost 9:30 at night and it's STILL 31 degrees celcius! (Around 88 fahrenheit)
