I don't even want to be here

But I have crept back. I don't feel too well today and have decided that it has something to do with the amount of time that I spend in front of the computer screen. So why am I here? Do you sometimes baffle yourself by doing what you have sworn yourself to avoid.

I know exactly how you feel, P1key. Sometimes I go five or six days without visiting myLot - I keep telling myself I should be writing, or doing the accounts, or gardening - I'm sure I had a life before the internet! What did we do to fill the hours? Right now, I'm going to watch The Bill!

All the time, Mr Fishie. Especially babysitting grandkids, I keep saying 'never again', then say yes when they ask.
I do sometimes carry on doing stuff on the computer knowing I have a migraine coming on and then get annoyed with myself for not stopping.

You sound like you may be a little depressed today. Do you need to talk? Is something bothering you? I will send my instant messenger, if you need to talk.

Yes, every year. Every year when my aerobics instructor starts training for the 34 mile hike out in treacherous gods country I say I will NOT be going with her. Then I go on the first hike just to see if I can still do it and I come home so sore I can't walk up my stairs.
But the very next weekend I am out there yet again hiking even further up bigger hills for longer distances.
I keep going until she gets up to 19 miles then after that I start slacking off and say all over again that I will never ever hike this particular section of wilderness ever again. I am such a liar! lol

P1ke-
I am very glad you are back, but I can understand needing a break from the online world. I took a one year sabbaticle from the world of online work, save family emails and it was the best thing I did. It was very rewarding when I came back as well. It gave me a fresh perspective.
Now, I don't think you necessarily need to take off that long, but it's ok to take a small break and then come back, and the coming back is ok. I don't think there is anything wrong with forming online relationships, or even spending a bit of time writing on forums. I think if you have a schedule that you set for yourself or a limit, that may allow you to enjoy this world, as well as maintain your healthy life outside of the computer. I suppose, in short, it's about balance.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling under the weather mate. It's definitely a good idea to get away from the PC a bit more then and get some fresh air into you! What about a nice big bonfire? That'll cheer you right up! I keep swearing to myself that I'm going to stop working in frustrating environments, yet here I am again doing the same thing in my current role. This seems to have become a common theme for me lately. Maybe I need to burn something as well?

Hi p1ke, I hope you feel better fairly quick...it is definitly not the same without you around...guess there is a lot of things for me I have done that have really tried to avoid..eg going out when really I would much rather be snuggled up on here or watching the TV, but can't think of anything else at the moment that I have sworn to avoid...hugs LoLo

Yes, its called internet addiction - don't worry, I suffer myself! And yes it can certainly make the eyes pretty tired, something to do with the fact the eyes are focused on the same fixed distance for long periods of time...
And we both know the answer!!!

My eyes get strained too at times l but I still come back because I need to. Office papers need to be accomplished making use of the computer. And of course my blogging and writing has to make use of a PC and it's always a joy to be online, with blogging friends, Mylot pals and many more. All the best , S.

Feel I bit like that today too. This one is only about the fifth topic I have responded to and I will more than likely sign off and come back tomorrow. I am very active on MyLot and rather addicted to the place but I am getting to the stage where I may take weekends off because I am finding computer work too tiring. Sometimes all that is needed is a break. Hope you feel better soon...

I always have the same kind of feelings like you. I get a headache now, because I have spent so much time in front of the computer and without go out for a walk or have a rest or breathe some fresh air. What I do is just staring at the screen and do something meaningless. Oh, I could not even bear myself.

I do hope that your feeling much better today..Your hear the same as all of us..your addicted somewhat to those on here that you call friends..When I make myself take a break.. I usually can stick to it but I really gotta keep busy or otherwise my mind whirls and I am thinking about it and then want to..so I usually grab a good book and get comfy..and bide my time till I can get back on.

Yep, that sometimes happens to me as well..no matter how good the book was..
A question not pertaining to the discussion..Is it just mine, or did everyone's account not get updated today? I have the same amount as yesterday and it saying I haven't been doing anything since the 9th since that is the last day it shows me having made money..

Well I find that I also spend to much time in front of the computer and don't get the exercise that I would get if I didn't have it. Too easy to just sit here and type. Other than that I don't see how using the computer would make you feel bad. Hope you feel better soon though. I always say not going to do that again then turn right around and do it anyway, guess I don't have much will power any more.

I hope it's only the computer making you feel poorly. It can give you eye strain, headaches and backaches, of which I hope you have none.
I do things I try to give up or cut down on, too. But a couple of months ago I decided my computer time was going to be like work time--till 5pm each day. It's a little easier for me to enforce it because my dogs are used to it now and make me miserable if I spend any significant time on the pc after "quitting time". After 5pm we play, watch a movie, read a book or something else where they can be near me physically. When I'm on the pc, they can lay on the floor next to my chair but they can't snuggle and they don't like that.
I hope you feel much better very soon!

Why are you here? Kindness, obviously. You know how much your absence would break our hearts if you were not, and how much we would miss you. It would be like standing in the livingroom when you know everyone is eating freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen. We're simply irresistible...just like the song.

I have done that many times P1key! I swear that I am not going to do something or overdo it whichever the case may be, but I still "creep back" also! With me I think it has to do with liking to do what I swear I won't do, so it is harder for me to stop doing sworn off thing than to suffer the consequences when I go ahead and do it!!
Now if I have mixed you up with my response...join the club!!

I know P1key! I am the same way! There are some people in my life that I don't like to be away from for any length of time either so I creep back to where I left some times too! There is absolutely nothing wrong with it! In fact I think it is quite healthy indeed! If certain people mean something to you and make you feel happy and better just being around them then I truly do not understand why anyone would leave those people!
I Hope that I am one of those people that you crept back for as I know I would creep back to see what you are up to if I left!!
