The Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses are the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th centry. Work is ongoing at this site, which is around 1.5 kilometers east of Emperor Qin Shi Huang's Mausoleum, Lintong County, Shaanxi Province. It is a sight not to be missed by any visitor to China.

I saw some of these when I was on holiday in Malta a few years ago. There was a special exhibition on at the Valetta Museum, and I thought that they are really something quite remarkable and special. There was one thing that I noticed about them as well, was that the features all seemed to be different as if they were the portraits of actual men rather than standardised figures. If they actually represent the actual men who were serving in the army at the time, it makes it all even more remarkable.
