First of all congratulations you started a very nice discussion. Welcome to MyLot. Well I belong to a small family and i love small families. I have grown up in freedom and carefree manner. It's not that if you have big family you don't have freedom but still you have to be more concious about your ways. I have had female friends who lived in big and joint families and they were not allowed to wear jeans because of the men in the family, that was something that really pissed me off. One more thing was that the girls were not allowed to go to any of their friends place for party or sleepovers without the approval of the ENTIRE family which was really bad. I mean even now when they are grown up they run after each member of the family to even take small decisions of their life. So I am very glad that I come from a small family which gives me an independent life. :)

Personally, I prefer to have a large family. It looks like having a large family is happier than a small one. I saw some friends of mine who was the only child. Some has 1 sibling which made them 2 in the family. But sccording to them, they are still sad. :) But for my family, I want to have at most 3 children. 2 will do but definitely not 1. If only we have a lot of money to sustain a large a family, I would do so. But that is not the case so I would settle for 2 or 3 but I am sure that I will be able to give them a better future.

i think i'll do the same.. large families are happier but this i guess is relative..some big families are not that happy... i also have the fear that i might not able to raise my future kids the way parents raised us...i always have this feeling that i may be a failure as a father.

I'm not big on families. With that being said, I came from a medium sized family I suppose. However, the family used to think we were a large family and used to try and do the whole family get together thing but that never worked out well because we just didn't want to do it. I'm glad I'm from a smaller family because there is no way I'd be able to handle a large family. I can't stand most of my family members so it'd really bother me.

I come from a small family. When I was growing up, I Thought I wanted to be in a large family. I would see the T.V. show The Brady Bunch! But now I'm happy. I Now know that I wouldn't have survived. I like having my own room, my own stuff. So Everything happened for the best.

Hello wings..there's nothing to be getting nervous we all came from first entry. About your first topic, well, having a big family is good if your parents or would be parents can afford financially to support it. I came from a small family and we are contented because though we are poor we were supported by our parents well. Nowadays, having a big family is not advisable in fact "one child policy" is more suitable in our financial situation nowadays...Thanks for this topic. Just keep writing...Cheers

good luck on your first discussion, im more than happy to take part in your discussion. you don't have to be nervous here..well, i lived with my parents, brother and my mom's parents. after my grandparents passed away, my family has become small with just 4 members. i liked those days with grandparents and my family in the same house. it was the greatest period of my life. i don't like to live together with aunt's or uncle's family and all. that will lead to arguments and fights and i dont like it.

i agree with you.. i don't like to live with my aunt's or uncle's family especially in my father's side.. but i would be happy to welcome my nieces and nephews in my home. i do not want them to experience the things that i experience with my aunties and uncles.

Someday I'll be building my own family too. I think I would prefer a small family. I don't have regrets being a part of a big family though but as for me I think I would prefer a small one. I don't have the skills as my parents raising big family. I am very busy, I don't know why.
