I am under 4 feet tall, but I have a full b*st size D if you want to know. So yesterday I needed an outfit for a wedding and I wanted something sleeveless =after all it is going to be in late summer and it will be pretty hot. But my friend said because I am older that I should wear something with sleeves and because I am full b*sted, I mean I am not for spaghetti straps, but something without sleeves. So now I am going to look almost like a little girl or someone whose sleeves come half up to the largest part of my upper arms. Not only that, I do not have any clothing money left and there is not another nice looking sleeveless blouse in the shop.
So I was wondering, are full b*sted older ladies who are short not allowed to wear sleeveless? Are we all expected to move to British Columbia or to Alaska where it is not warm enough to wear sleeveless anyway most of the time?
And since I might have Italian in me from way back? Did not some of my ancestors live where it was quite warm?

You are tiny but IMO your height has nothing to do with your sleeve length. I am also full busted and wear sleevelss all the time in the summer. I do not have flabby arms and I think that flabby arms is the factor whether your should wear sleevless not bust size.

She seems to think that if you are full b*sted that sleevless is out. Then I am 66, but do not look it, but then when I wear sleeves, unless they are long, they come right in the middle of my upper arms. So that is the problem.

I would disagree, I'm sure you can find good sleeveless tops. Try on different cuts. I would also recommend watching Tim Gunn's guide to style (or being in the show, I know I would want that hehe).

You cannot pay attention to what other people tell you, especially when it comes to your clothing...Some people just LOVE to mind other peoples business & put in their 2 cents....I have NEVER heard of such a thing..You know how to dress, so get something YOU like that is comfortable & be it sleeveless or whatever you wear it...The best way to handle that is never ask anyones opinion UNLESS it is someone you trust & never listen you advice given to you unasked for...I see no reason whatsoever that a sleeveless dress would be unforgiveable....

Where in the world did she get that idea and what does being full b*sted have to do with it? I've seen a lot of ladies of all ages with your body type wearing sleeveless clothing and they look fine. It's a lot better than wearing sleeves and sweating like a pig as the perspiration stains your underarm area!
You go ahead and get a sleeveless blouse, you deserve some comfort and I'm sure you'll look lovely.

Honestly, whether or not you choose to go sleeveless depends entirely on what your arms look like and not what your b*st looks like. Your frend likely suggested that you go with sleeves because she felt that sleeves on a garment might balance your bodyshape out. This isn't necessarily a bit of bad advice, but to balance the proportions of the body, you can't just wear any sleeves and you don't have to do so with sleeves. You could easily go with a sleeveless blouse which has a ruffle or a fringe sewed onto the top of the armhole.
The use of sleeves, however, is not the best way to create harmony with the proportions of your body. The best way would be to go with a fuller skirt with the blouse which puts emphasis on the hips to create harmony.

I think your friend is being silly. I'm at an age, the same as you and have decided that if I want to wear short sleeves I will. There seems to be not set fashion these days any way. I like to be comfortable as well as look nice. If you want to go sleeveless then do so and be free and cool.

I am a full-figured woman. I wear sleeveless and spaghetti straps too! Where is it written that we need to dress a certain way? If I am comfortable in it, I wear it. Forget about what others say about fashion. Everyone has their own ideas about what to wear. My mother refuses to wear anything that doesn't have a sleeve. She said she has wave back arms. Well, heck, so do I. So does Oprah. We wear sleeveless!

In my humble opinion, you can wear sleeveless if you're comfortable. There's nothing inappropriate about sleeveless even if you're full b*sted and short. I don't know where "fashion experts" get their info. I even wear horizontal stripes sometimes even though I'm full-figured. That's a fashion no-no because horizontal emphasizes fat. Vertical stripes don't hide it! So, dear suspenseful, wear what you like.

There are no rules anymore. If you look neat and feel good in it, wear it,it certainly isn't a problem, Enjoy the day, forget about no sleeves and enjoy what you want to wear.

I have a friend myself that is always saying she doesn't want to dress too young... we are both 49. I dress for comfort.. if I like it, I wear it. If someone doesn't like what I am wearing, well I probably don't like what they wear.
Myself I don't wear sleeveless because I was too fat to feel comfortable a couple of years ago and now I have lost over 140 lbs. and still won't wear them because I feel self conscious about all my hanging skin !!
But I think you should definitely wear one if you can find one that you feel comfortable in. Life is too short to let other people make decisions about what you want to wear. GO FOR IT !!
Brightest Blessings
