Can you imagine making $500 in ad revenue per month?

Someone asks about ad revenue in Helium forum.
A Senior Steward, Rachelle de Bretagne, shares her experience:
"I am an established member with almost 2000 articles. The more good quality content you submit the more you earn. In the early stages it's a bit hard to grasp but all your old articles continue to earn money on a monthly basis for ever, so the more you have, the more you earn, but remember quality matters.
I earn around 500 a month on a poor month."
I check out her profile, she has 1901 articles, 29 Contest win, 9 Marketplace articles sold, and has invited 33 writers so far.
Her average ad revenue works out to be 26 cents per article per month, on her bad month. I wonder how much she earns on her good month, with contest win, upfront and referrals earnings!
Do you dream of a day you can make this kind of passive income per month?

Hi Scheng...I surely do dream of that day. My biggest earnings on Helium have come from the upfront articles I've sold in the Marketplace, but you can't count on that happening each month. I really really need to get my writing score up, as I don't even have a star yet :/

Hi PeacefulWmn, what is your user name in Helium?
I have no doubt that you can write better than me, since English is not even my mother tongue.
Maybe you can study a bit of psychology, and changes the first few paragraphs to make them appealing to writers rating the articles. I find that most writers do not pay much attention to the grammar or writing style, they just rate according to how they feel about the article.

I like your idea of capturing the reader's attention in the first few sentences of an article, and will be mindful of that :) Me Helium name is as it is here: PeacefulWmn9 or Karen Chaffee.

I know Rachel slightly and she certainly is one of the most prolific and knowledgable of writers on Helium. She is though is a great situation though of having invited some 33 different writers to Helium, and so earns a percentage of their earnigns as well. If they are relatively prolific then she is well set to earn large amounts of income from their articles as well as her own.

Tim: I think making $140/month is excellent. I hit $100 for the first time ever (largely because I won a contest) this past month, and I was so happy. If I could make that kind of money every month, I would be satisfied!

Made $140 last month which combined upfront, revenue and rating.
To make $500 would have to write five articles each day which though not impossible would be difficult to sustain.

I have lost track of how many articles I have written this month to empty titles. It is all a hazy blur, lol. I hope to post a few more before the cut off on July 25. I have almost 60 articles now and I would like to get to 75 before I have to go back to work in a few weeks.

Id love to earn that kind of money, but really I doubt I ever will. I like the internet but I dont work that hard at making an income here. I think I earn $5 a month or so. If I could earn that kind of cash as dependably as a job I might. Good for here though.

Hi Happythoughts, relax, dont say never. Maybe you have not found the best way to make money online yet.
Different people got different talents, just have to find the best and most enjoyable ways to make money online. Not everyone enjoys writing or can write so well, to make $500 passive income every month.

You really do not have to work that hard at it. One article a day is 7 articles a week. In four weeks you would have 28. If they are ranked well at helium you should have 2 writing stars. Those two stars will earn you upfront payments of $1. If you rate articles 10 or 15 minutes a day after posting your article and achieve enough for the bonus that is another $3. For the best income 75% of your articles should be posted to empty titles. For every one of those articles posted as such you will receive a $1 bonus.
Just doing this much is over $20 a month with very little effort.

Hi Chi, if you want to make money, stay clear of those categories that do not attract upfront payment.
As a newbie, you have to gain your first writing star. After you submit your first article, I advise you to spend time rating the articles, to see the how the rating system works. Because your article will be subjected to the same rating system.
Most of my articles are in Business, and Personal Finance. I find that those are the categories that are very popular with writers and readers.
Since 25 June 09, you have to write to titles with less than 5 articles in eligible channels to earn upfront. And your articles must be in the first or second position to secure enough writing score to get a writing star.
If there are 5 articles in a title, the first article will be computed as 100% in writing score, the second is 80%, the third is 60%.
If there are 4 articles in a title, the first article will be computed as 100% in writing score, the second is 75%

HArd work always pays off..
She must have worked awfully hard to get to this position today..
The quote goes, YOu reap what you sow!
Hence, she's enjoying the fruits of her labour.. =)
Congrats Rachelle!
And hopefully, scheng will get your passive income soon!
have a great day!

Hi Edmltw, she really work very, very hard to make this kind of passive income.
It is hard to write so many articles, and have the articles continually make money for the writer.
I have less than two hundred articles, unlikely to reach two thousands articles soon. Anyway, there is hope. If someone can make it, so can the rest of us.
Thanks for your best wishes. Hope all of us can make passive income this way.

Hi Shia, the best is $500 passive income every month. That is even better than the interests in fixed deposit.
She really worked very hard to write nearly two thousands articles! At least her effort pays off, and she provides a hope for us who want to make money from writing.

It makes me wonder what she would earn if she reposted those articles to Associated Content for page views!?! That is a very impressive amount of money, and who wouldn't be happy earning just half that amount per month? Writing 2000 articles involves a lot of work, but I do think there are some advantages in just covering that sort of writing territory.
I have been working on trying to get to 300 for so long, I can't fathom 2,000! It certainly does give one hope, however. Even making it to 500 articles on Helium has added perks.
How many do you have Scheng? Is that your name on Helium? I don't think I have ever looked at your profile before. Hope you are having a nice 4th of July!

Hi Art, yes, that is my real name, using real name for both Helium and AC.
If I write hard this month, I may reach 200 articles this month, still a long, long way from 2,000 articles.
Anyway there is hope, if someone can make it, it will be our turn sooner or later. Really nice to have $500 in the bank every month! When convert to Singapore dollars, it is about S$700!

Dear Scheng, I hope you realize that you are only feeding my growing obsession with helium writing stars by posting this information, LOL!
It is nice to know that someday my dream can possibly come true!

Before the end of July I will have 50 helium articles, possibly more. I will have to take a break the next few days but after July 10 I will have a month away from teaching so I will have more time and I can get back to posting my own articles and titles at AC. I will also devote more time to my blog, finally.
My writing score is still pretty good so who knows, that 4th star may just appear in another month!
