So little faith in our fellow man?

Discussions of morality, religion and especially politics seem to regularly turn against the media for bias toward one story or another. I understand how any side in any debate can believe the media is biased. Even with the most bland news, decisions of which story gets to go first or gets the most time tend to show bias. The problem I now have is why it should matter so much.
Do we have so little faith in our countrymates that we believe they are not weighing these stories on their own merits? Is everyone sitting at home thinking the rest of the world is SO stupid that they cannot make up their own minds?
Have we all given up on each other?

I think alot of the world has given up on alot of things these days. There have been many changes and alot fo them are not fo rthe better either. I still think alot of us can make up our own minds but I think alot of people tend to go with whatever is in the media these days.
