fatal boating accident in my area.

This is awful!!!! There should be something done with him!!!! I feel for this family right now. I'm sorry that the mother didn't make it but I hope the daughter pulls through. Did you know these people? So many accidents happen on lakes during the summer, especially on the 4th. There is a lake about ten miles north of here called "Smith Lake", not far from where I go to church, as a matter of fact. A lot of people spend the 4th up there. There are always a lot of accidents up there in the summer, drownings, boating accidents, etc. We have a boat patrol up there, though, and they have rules now. Was there a boat patrol where this accident happened, or do you know? Kathy.

i think he needs to put away for life but it is so many people believe nothing is wrong with getting drunk doing things that they wouldn't do other wise is ok.getting drunk for any reason is wrong and it doesn't matter WHO you are.They will pay for their sins.may not here on earth.

That is so horrible. It is a shame that people cannot be more responsible. I cannot imagine how that person can live with himself. I know that if I ever killed someone whether my fault or not, they might as well shoot me.

Hi Jo.... my dad told me this is the very reason why the authorities are making it mandatory to have a license to operate a boat these days, because of low lifes like this one, to keep the drunks out of the water. One bad apple makes it harder for the rest of us law abiding citizens. I don't know when this law will go in affect but it can't happen soon enough. My condolences to the family....

oh men yeah I have to agree to you on that my lady and if not he should be sentenced to life imprisonment or something... thats just awful... so whats the case now was he imprisoned ? poor family thats just too bad, if i was the father I think I could actually kill a person for that.

I don't know where you live, but here he could go to jail for manslaughter or negligent homicide. Unless of course he is a politician or related to one! The politicians don't want to do anything about such things because they would be liable for their drinking too!

That is terrible. I hope that drunk gets what he deserves. It is law that you are not to drink and drive anything. You just never know when these freak accidents are going to happen.

That is awful, that is just like how can people get behind a wheel of a car after they've been drinking. I am so sorry about what happened to that family on vacation. It's been a requirement to have a boaters license for years. I've had my boaters license since I was 13. Well technically not anymore because we don't have a boat so I didn't renew it a few years ago but still, that is awful. I hope he gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Heyya jo! I saw that on the news. Boats can be just as dangerous as cars with someone drinking operating them. Especially during the holidays. I think he should be charged harshly. We all know better than that stuff. Take care.

Jail time! Guess he don't remember it happen too . he should live with that pic in the mind every day.We had calm 4th as far as accident.the rodeo rider crash his leg under a bull .That a sad 4th for that family .Sorry to hear that.
