Recently I watched a documentary called 'Leave her to Die' about the plight of one woman, Avis Rideout who went to an orphanage in Thailand and found a room inside there where babies with AIDS/HIV were put in and left to die, literally, this is what was printed on their charts!.
These children were not loved, cuddled, kissed or any kind of human contact really, due to the fact that they had this disease and the ignorance about AIDS/HIV that the Thai people had..and may still have..
Avis found a little girl, with no name, who was very ill and decided to take her home.
I wont go into the documetary too much as I think you should take the oppurtunity to watch it for yourselves and feel and see the impact that this lady and her family have had for these beautiful, deserving children, who only wanted what every child should have....Love x
The child was adopted by Avis, even though she wasnt expected to live and they called her NIkki,....this eventually turned into her massive mission of opening a home for these children and caring for them, loving them and giving them what they need.
The home named Nikki's Place, Agape Home Thailand, after Nikki of course, who mind you is still with us and doing well:), was opened in 1996 in Chiang Mai, Thailand and continues to grow and run purely through donations and sponsorships. They even opened a school room for the children n 1998 to help give them an education.
There are now numerous projects available to sponsor, and volunteers are very welcome!!
I urge you to please have a look at the following website to see for yourselves what wonderful things they are doing there and what you can do if you'd like to help this amazing place!!!
Thank you:) xxx
