Getting Links To Your Blog

I just added another entry to my how to earn online blog (link in my profile)covering a few different ways to get links to your blog or website but I wanted to share a quick tip here about making the most out of your incoming links.
For those that have their own blogs I'm sure most of you at one point or another have been working on getting inward links to your blog(s) (that is links from other sites that point to your blog) and many of you probably have your favourite and most reliable ways of doing it: whether that's via articles, commenting on other blogs, or leaving posts in forums etc but to get even more out of each inward link there's something else you can do.
If, for example, you leave a comment on a blog that is related to yours with your link you should also add that particular post/article etc to some of your favourite social bookmarking sites (stumblupon, digg etc)
By doing that you're not only making the post with your link on it more visible to others you are also helping to build that particular site up in the ranks which in turn brings your blog up with it.
If you have any other tips, suggestions or questions etc just let me know either here or via a comment on my blog so I can make the blog as useful as possible to others

I appreciate this suggestion. As of now, I am wading through a lot of books from the library on blogging and web sites and search engine optimization. Of the books so far that I am going through these are the ones that look the most promising:
"Web Design and Marketing Solutions for Business Websites" by Kevin Potts
and
"Search Engine Optimization for Dummies"
If anyone has any good reference materials, I would also greatly appreciate it. Happy blogging.

Hi,
I've never actually read any books etc when it comes to blogging or SEO, I've found the best way to go about it is to learn by doing it - there's also plenty of handy reference sites online you could read up on.
The one major problem when it comes to books etc about SEO is that the information changes so quickly and so often, what might be good and work well today, may be worthless or considered the wrong approach tomorrow.

I use to do that a bit in forums, leave a link to a post, with my comment. But sometimes I leave a link to my post, if relevant to the forum question...

I am beginning to look through your blog and try to implement some of the things. My best advice to others is to figure out what is really important, and not be distracted by other things around, that may also be good, but not necessarily in your best interest. If I am understanding what you are saying here, it is to get everything you can tied in together so that they all are linked together. If you build up others to whom you are connected you are also benefiting yourself. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

This is an excellent idea that I have never tried and haven't even thought of before. I thank you for this and your sound advice in response to my own discussion posts re08dz - I'm going to start studying your blog now as these are already a couple of examples that I find extremely useful- think I can learn a lot from you - thanks!
