the many faces of Bit torrent (RFC 2119?)

Bit torrent, BT is an interesting network protocol. There is a saying: "If many people give even a little to someone, that someone will have enough... if not more than enough..." Unlike standard HTTP, BT allows multiple "servers" to provide "pieces" of a huge file so that a client could download a reasonably huge file without clogging up a single download path. Perhaps this protocol could apply to more aspects of life such poverty alleviation etc... What do you think?
