How old were you when you got your first car, and what was it? I wes eighteen, and had just passed my driving test, and the car was a 1948 Morris 8/40 that my father bought new. He passed it onto my brother when he bought a new car. Finally I bought it from my brother. Please share your first car story with us.

Hey kitty, I think our first car is something special. I wasn't lucky to get a new car for a while, but had a lot of fun with the used ones. Thanks for sharing.

Hello my friend Well with that came a huge car note, but the feeling of having my own car at that time was so wonderful, I never wanted to drive in the city one day I woke up and decided I wanted to drive just like that, so I took lessons and did this everyday until I was comfortable enough to take the test, when I passed I bought my car, it was all amazing, my instructor was remarkable, he tough me everything I needed to know and made sure I was ready he didn't try to rush me, even when I said no not yet, he said take the test and scheduled me, I failed the first time because the man made me so nervous I hit someone car and broke their light, he made me nervous he was so mean and I just allowed him to get to me, I passed the second time and was really happy. Thank you my friend.

This is a really good discussion and I know that driving is really important when it comes to everyday life, because everyone has to be able to get from point A to point B,and most people know how to drive, and I am sure that different people have different opinions when it comes to their first car, some people might have had a muscle car for their first car, while others might have had Honda or something smaller for their first car,and some might have even had a truck,SUV or mini van for their first car,and I know that everyone is different, since everyone has different ideas, different opinions, and different preferences, and the differences make life more fun,and more interesting, and keep people from getting boring, and when it comes to me I remember my first car like it was yesterday,it was a blue two door 1978 Chevy Nova and I loved that car,I got it for five dollars from my grandpa because he wanted me to be able to say I bought it,and I drove that thing for about five months before I lost control and hit a welding truck, and almost got blown up,that was a very scary day, especially since if it had blown it would have taken out my school as well, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

This brings back memories! My very first car was a bright orange (ugh!!) three door Honda Civic. I loved it and could not wait to drive it, although I was very inexperienced I remember the car yard people delivered the car to my house which is something that would not happen these days! I was seventeen and very excited. I waited at the front of my house for the car to arrive and took it for a spin straight away and nearly went through a stop sign! I like to think my driving has improved over the years and so has my taste in car colour!

hi paula, I hope your driving has improved over the years, mine certainly has. And you have just given me an idea for a new discussion about driving. Thanks for the tip, you will recognise it when you read it. Colour really isn't i,portant to me, but I'm not very keen on black. Thanks for the input.

I was about 18 when I finally got my drivers license. We didn't have much money so I had to buy my own car. I saved up for months. I got a 74 Chevy Malibu. It was like a tank and I drove it into the ground. It got so banged up it was crazy but i learned how to be a great driver from it.

Hey TvrlArrngr, that's great. Although my first car was in our family from new, I still had to pay for it. That teaches us to respect it more, which in turn means we respect the car more too. How long did you have the Chevy for? Lucky it wasn't recently, or the price of gas would have sent you broke. Lol. Thanks for youe comments, mate.

I had the car about 3 years. You are right it was an 8 cylander so it would eat up a lot of gas. I would go broke today.

My first car was a boat. A 1966 Plymouth Fury III. It did really good in the snow and I could fit like 8 people in it, but in the early eighties gas was expensive so I didn't drive it that much. I also had a motorcycle at the same time and used that a lot. It was a Yamaha DT 175 and it was technically my first "car".

Hi Thomas, I remember the Plymouth Fury, there were a few imported into Australia. In fact a friend of mine had a red one, and it wasn't converted to right-hand drive. Thanks for your input.

I was only 15 when got my first car last year. I saved up $800 and bought a 1989 ford ranger. When I was driving it home the transmission went out, so I've spent the last 4 months putting in a new trans and brakes myself. It seems to me like it was all worth it though.
