I observed that most of the people using a cell phone to monitor the time, even if others have wrist watch when being ask "what time is it?", they will see the time in their cell phone.
Does it mean that wrist watch nowadays is not so important when one has cell phone,
What do you think?

it has been ages since i used a wrist watch. if it's just a matter of telling the time... a cellphone is as mobile as having a wristwatch because nowadays people bring their cellphone wherever they go. when i'm working on my computer, i could easily tell the time by looking at the screen of my monitor. in every room in our house, we have a wall clock that conveniently tells you the time of day. so basically, i don't miss the wrist watch anymore.
i guess at present, more people are using wrist watch to accessorize rather than the need to tell time.

yeah, in magazines i've seen a lot of celebrities modelling a wristwatch that is more like an expensive bracelet because it's adorned by diamonds and other precious stones that you have to dig in away from all the glitter just to see the time.

I have to have a watch on...I always need to know what time it is, especially at work. I am a supervisor and with our clocking in and out system i have to note when people get there, when they leave, breaks...im looking at a clock nearly all day and its easier to glance at my wrist than to pull out a phone and look at it before putting it back.

nope I dont use a wrist watch now, I have a blackberry and an iphone so I use the applications and features on my phone now instead of various items
same as a diary I use the phones diary etc etc
the phones that you can get now are making a lot of items redundant

I didn't use one even before cell phones LOL In the first place I am very allergic to metal, and even if I used the plastic bracelets there would still be metal parts creating a problem. Then, I really don't care much about time. The only times I really want to know the time is when my bus comes late because I want to make sure that I am still getting to work on time. But then again once I'm on the bus I can look at the clock on the dash as I get in and know what time it is.
Are wrist watches still important? Maybe for other people. They can also look good as an accessory and depending on where one keeps the cell phone, it is probably easier to look at one's wrist than to go into the purse, find the phone, and look at the time :)
The main thing is that if knowing what time it is, is important for the person, either one will be useful. If not, it doesn't really matter :)

No eversince I don't have a watch even I don't have cellphone. Now that i have a cellphone, yes, I used it as my alarm clock and if I have to check on time. Cellphone now has many uses , it can be a phone, calculator, clock, organizer and I also surf the net using my phone.

I havent had a watch since i started using a cell phone. It just seemed silly to have 2 time keepers on me. It did take awhile to stop looking at my wrist. Im glad i dont have the tanless white strip around my wrist anymore.

Since I have a cell phone I do not have a wristwatch. I believe I have had a cell phone for like five years or less, I always use my cell phone as my clock and alarm as well and for agenda, calculator and a way of course to keep in touch and stalk fwidman

hmmm... i think wrist watches is still important... like when you are on duty/ojt you can't just pull out your celphone to check for the time... your instructor/boss might think your texting while you are working... so, i say, "wrist watches are still in."

That has to be the dumbest, stupidest thing I have ever heard. I do not know anyone who gets their cellphone out of their purse, pocket, case etc., to find out the time when, if they are wearing a watch, all they have to do is glance down at their wrist??

You said "I observed that most of the people " I do not know where you did your observing must I seriously doubt that MOST is the correct word. Sorry to be so literal (it must be my intelligence coming through when I read anything) but IMO is is better than exaggeration. So to answer your question I do not use my cell phone as a time piece.

Wow, how clever you are! Actually you're right, literally but with the hitting beyond the lines you'll found out that the sense of the topic is to know:
Who are those who still preferred to use wristwatch to monitor time not as for jewelry on hand,
And who are not using watch at all, instead they're on using cell phone to see the time

Hi there zearah!
Yes, I do have a cell phone. And though this can tell me the time, I still use a wrist watch. I personally think that the wrist watch is still important despite the use of cell phones. For instance, since I can't use my cell phone in my classroom as I deliver my lectures, I use my wrist watch to know the time. To be aware of the time that is. When boarding a plane, there are times when the pilot requests that cellphones be turned off. So in this case, I need my wrist watch to know the time.

I use to wear a watch for years, even though I had my cell phone. I stopped wearing one when I lost the one I had when my daughter was a baby. There was never the money to get me a new one. So now, I still don't wear one, and my daughter is almost 5, and I have an almost 2 year old son.

My mother want to buy me a wrist watch before but I told her my phone will do. In my case I don't think I still need a wrist watch. I have a cellphone and it can give me more than I can get from a wrist watch.

I will prefer to see my wrist watch to see what time is it than to see my handphone. Moreover my hand phone is kind a very old fashion, and it kind embarrassing for people to see it. But if I were givenn a choice, I will still prefer wrist watch because it troublesome to find my cell phone in the bag. Happy Mylotting

you know friend my cell is the same as yours. Old almost near to end of service. But I still love this because this is the only one I ever had. And sometimes I am ashame too to display it in public but I am happy with it's service. In fact the thing that makes it so special to me is it can connect to internet even if don't have a credit. You might don't believe I guess. For the time I am always
with my wrist watch.
