Why do we give exams which is of no use? Only get marks. Why are the questions so hard? Can't they give it easy?

Actually exams are just a platform for exam takers. Exams are kept to know how much
you have grasped the subject. But strangely , the exams test memory skills instead
of comprehending skills. There is a need for change in examination system.
Examinations gauge you and tell your position among the rest of the candidates.

Well Ganesh what do you feel about the Indian Govt proposal of scraping exams till 12th Std and then have a board exam at 12th Std level. You are from India and you might be able to give a suitable reply.

I think scrapping 10th board exam is just an eye wash. When a student directly
goes for twelfth examination , he will get unnecessary fear as to how a board exam
will be. It will raise the anxiety levels. These things will lead to growth of
commercial coaching centers . In my view , instead of scrapping , they should
simplify the evaluation process of TENTH STANDARD. They should evaulate the
students at regular intervals and can effectively implement grading system.
Instead of keeping a single exam , they should conduct them at different stages
and get the best out of the student. I think this scrapping will still worsen the
situation leading to lack of preparedness for the student for the XII .

I would say not just easing the exams but if you can improve the quality of education by recruiting good teachers and doing programmes such as training of teachers about the recent advances in teaching methods etc will definately help the way students learn. If the student know the subject it is obvious that he can express it in the exams how difficult may be. Isn't it?

Exams are the only way to assess a persons knowledge. Oflate education has become a business and quality of education has decreased drastically. Instead of giving hard questions teachers need to teach the students properly and make them understand. Then there would be no hard questions. Its high time that higher autorities in the education sector should think about it. There is a proposal of no exams in India. What do you say about this?

if there is no exam in the education , the general students will suffer mostly. Because a Exam less system will succeed ONLY when teachers are proactive and responsible to assigned duties. in today's system the teachers ( Not ALL obviously) are only responsible to FINISH their assigned syllabus - as they think - in it question of making the students understand is not taken into account. You know in west Bengal in the primary stage No detention policy is being followed since long. But in true sense it demolish the work culture in primary schools. Exam less education system will be boonful to shirker not for the students ... what is comment?

If they give it easy then it probably just beats the purpose of an exam - how much do you understand of a certain subject or so? But I know, my exams are really hard too. heh

well .. exams are there to ensure that a dumb person is not moving up the study pyramid .. he/she knows what they are studying . and "only marks" are one of the important thing that a company sees when we go looking for a job.
