I miss my newspaper!

I picked up a free copy of a newspaper the other day while I was out. When I got around to reading it last night I was surprised to learn that I actually miss reading the newspaper. I especially like reading the Sunday paper because it is chock full of interesting items. My favorite sections of the paper include the editorials, Life and Art, Horoscope, and the crossword puzzle - the more difficult the better! I am seriously considering subscribing to our local paper once again. Sure, you can access all of the news on the Internet, TV, and radio, but there is nothing like leafing through the pages as you enjoy that morning cup of coffee(or two).

Why don't you just subscribe to the Sunday paper then? Probably cost ya afew and then you and your coffee will be comfy for the winter. Those special little things that make us happy is where it is at. Life is short so enjoy it while you can. And spit out the pits.

You know, celticeagle, I think I will do just that - starting tomorrow. I shudder to think how much it's going to cost me though.

Hi World...I totally agree with you. Though anything, or almost anything, can be found on the internet, I still like reading through the Sunday paper at my leisure, or thumbing through an actual paper magazine or book. And I love pen and paper for writing, too. The smells and feels and rituals of some things cannot be beat by even the internet. Karen

I am very much a hands-on type of person, Peaceful, and I really miss that since I've been getting most of my news over the Internet or from TV and radio.

Hello World, and thank you so much for the "best response." I am happy there are still hands-on people in our world. :) Karen

Whenever I want to know what is on television or to check if my programs are on, I will always look it up in the newspaper, dad will insist on checking on Sky, but I like to read the little review they put beside it as well or the feature. Whenever I watch television and the commercials come on I always do the crosswords in the paper to pass the time. I don't read the news to be honest, too much doom and gloom and right now I certainly don't need that, so yes a paper is entertaining for me for the tv and crosswords oh and film guide too what's coming on at the cinemas etc..

Yeah the best section in a newspaper is the crossword. It increases your intellect. I am just like you- always only solve it and that's everything I do with the newspaper. Cheers.

There is really so much more than the news in a newspaper, wolfie, that I would often skip that part as well. My mom and I used to race to see who could finish all of the puzzles first.

Our newspaper is small and nothing is ever in it. I used to like to read it but they have cut so much out of it, that it is not worth it.

That is such a shame, Thoroughrob. Looks like cutbacks are happening everywhere.

I love reading the paper. Every day we get four delivered to the house, ny times, wall street journal, and two local papers!

i really enjoy reading the newspaper but alas, we cannot afford to get it plus, i honestly think that i would not have enough time to read it every day. most days for us are just too busy! (sometimes we get a free sample or my daughter brings it home from school).

It's such a shame, cher, that many of the things we like have gone up so much that we cannot afford them any longer. I can always find a bit of time to read, though, even if I have to take it into the bathroom with me.

According to me, reading a newspaper is very useful. You will not only understand the newest items worldwide. In internet there a lot of items too, and maybe they are hundred times more than the news in the newspaper, but in the last one the news are true and you can believe in everything you read in the newspapers.

I can't say that I believe everything that I read in the newspaper, kircho, but it is a pretty reliable source of information.

I used to go out religiously every sunday morning and get the sunday paper. But now im very happy with the news on the net, local news and Cnn. I remember when i read the paper i always had a wet paper towel near by because of the ink that came off onto my fingers. I dont miss it. Then there was always what to do with the paper when your done. Recycle? Wouldnt it be great if they also came around and picked up the old papers?

Hey worldwise! I haven't actually read a newspaper in years! I don't remember the last time I have read one! My boyfriend buys them to read on the bus and while he is on lunch at work. I just don't bother anymore! As you said, I read my news on the Internet or watch it on tv! I am ashamed to say that the only thing I use the newspaper for is to line the litter box with!

I guess that I miss it so much, Opal, because it has been a part of my life for so many years. Sitting in front of the computer and catching up on the latest news somehow just isn't the same.

Hey, Yea I know what you mean, it is just really relaxing to sit down and read your newspaper while sipping a cup of coffee down. I don't think that anything in the world will be able to replace a good old fashioned newspaper. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Oh I know exactly what you mean and there really isn't anything much like sipping your coffee while flipping your newspaper. Many years ago I would get the newspaper on a daily basis and loved to get the Sunday Papers with all the coupons and sales flyers! You can also find alot of jobs in your sunday paper which is really nice.

Yes, Glow, that is so true. I used to set aside several hours on Sunday just to go through my newspaper at a leisurely pace.

I used to like looking through the newspaper but I really could live without these days where we live, especially. I do not even like to watch the news much anymore either because of all of the crime and corruption. I'm glad you are still enjoying it though.

Oh crosswords rock. I just love to solve. Although simple sometimes, they tend to surprise us when we least expect them to. I make it a point to solve one each day and re check with the solutions given the next day. This is a good habit and it's the best part of a newspaper. Most of the papers now cover only violence and such on the front page which makes them not worth reading. I love to read the sunday special as it has a bigger crossword and more puzzles to solve. bourne
