Is my in-depth discussion only worth a penny?

I had been answering discussions to the fullest of my ability. Many times I feel for the person in a difficult situation. I try to give a most thought about advice, coupled with a prayer that everything gets to be right. But my earnings show a pathetic figure. Just wondering if my effort is only worth a penny? Someone told me that counselors earn by the hundred...

Although there is no evidence to prove this I honestly feel that your earnings are in someway affected by the subject matter of the discussion. My reasoning being is that myLot make there money from adverts, therefore the more times a page is viewed myLot will theoretically make more money. If a discussion is on a popular topic then again theoretically that page will be viewed more often and so more money. Adding to this if a discussion is not only popular but crafted in a way in which it will appear in search engines for particular keywords/phrases then myLot will benefit from external views as well as member views. These are just my thoughts and I have no actual proof as to if this is part of the formula which myLot use for working out rewards. But having worked in the web industry for several years this would make sense. So if you are just getting a penny for your responses it may not be anything to do with the quality of your response but the actual discussion itself.

Thanks for the information. I noticed that there is one mylotter who posted a one-liner and received over a hundred responses. I will try post a more popular topic even if trifling and see what happens. Wish me luck!

Your earnings depend on how active you are, and your participation in discussions. If you don't post quality, then you will get paid very little or nothing at all. That is how mylot figures our earnings, and no one knows that the process is either, and mylot wants to keep it that way. Just post quality, and your earnings will go up day by day. Just be sure you also post comments to the responses in our discussion. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

I do wish we are not kept in the dark. But I have not really read the instruction about earnings. I am pathetic when it comes to that. But I do my best to post quality discussions and answer as responsibly as I can. I know how important written words could be. Thanks rosekiss.

Are there counsellors on here? I was unaware of this. But it does seem that any response gets 1 cent. I've only joined so I'm yet to become 100% aware of the ins and outs of the site.
