China Mobile - A china mobile handset

India has banned China mobile handsets becuase they do not have any IMEI number. Without IMEI number a mobile operator cannot track where the mobile set is being operated from. So terrorist can get away easily by committing crimes if they use a handset which does not have any IMEI number. So, Indian government has ordered all mobile cellphone operators to bar all calls who use china mobile handsets. You can know the IMEI number of your handset by pressing*#06#. This number is unique. No other IMEI number will match with your number. But china mobile handsets uses false IMEI number. When you make a call, it sends 000000000000000 as IMEI number! This is against International GSM rules. So, I think Indian government has taken a right decision.

yes may be some devices coming from china don't respect international laws as well..so i think it should normal that in some countries can eb abnned or out of the market as well!!Normally all mobile phones have an imei number so why not those one from china?i think sometimes there are really starnge policies from some products coming from china but anyway seeing that sometimes it can have a terroristic or security involvement it should take right measures as well!!

i think it is the best ideal thing to do, chinese phones are noted for their poor quality and sometimes they make the most noice especially when people use them in public places, the phones also have the chances of being spoilt at the slightest fall and this makes it one one the worst mobile phones in the world

I never realized that China Cellphones does not have IMEI number. In my place there are plenty of it being sold and I am not aware if our government had known about this since we used IMEI when we want to block a stolen cellphone. That is the only way where the cellphone can be rendered unusable if the IMEI would be block by our telecommunications commission. I hope our government would also look into this matter if they are selling this products too.

Well as usual it is a stupid decision by the Indian government. Because of the ban, the Chinese phones in the gray market or smuggled market is going to become costly. A handset which used to sell for Rs.2,000/ will now sell for Rs.3,000/. This is a political as well as a business decision to safe guard the local manafacturers. Do you mean to say the terrorists will use such cheap Chinese Mobiles, they use the sophisticated Sattelite mobiles, like the one which was found during the Mumbai attack. The security reason given is so stupid, that only the Indian government can think of such reasons.

Well, that's something I did not know, and it sounds like the right choice was made by China. I hope that terrorist find themselves with out communication or using communication the right way.
