Do You Think the U.S. Withdrawal From Iraq Is A Good Thing?

I think that if it is done the right way and the area is stable it is a good thing, I however do not believe that to be the case and we are going to be returning to the region within months of pulling out.

You should look at whether it is save to give back Iraqi its independence now. Are the police forces big and educated enough to fulfill their tasks? I don't know the answer simply because I don't follow this topic closely. But I don't think the reason should be because the Iraqis want it. If that would be a legitimate reason then we wouldn't have the mess in Israel and the Palestine area.

Well I guess Iraquis have always wanted their independence from foreign ruler. Although they were at times they were under a dictatorship they have endured it just to be independent. Now that they were freed from it, I guess they also would want to govern themselves according to their culture traditions and religion I guess. So let us see whether they can stand on their own or they will again be succumb under a dictatorial leadership. Sometimes the traces of the past regime cannot be easily be erased from the mindset of the people who went under a repressive regime and people would have a hard grasp of what kind of freedom was given unto them.

well a right mess was made of that country. they might have had a brutal dictator but what happened afterwards seemed if anything even worse. they need their independence and hopefully they can get things back together.

How about from US's perspective? I do admit that the benefits from oil in Iraq is big, but would it worth all the tax payers' money, casualties, and criticism inside and outside of the country to stay there? Not just US but any UN country having their troops over there are sufferring from global recession. They would rather spend money on fixing their own economical issues back home than invest on someone else's country.

I think USA should release iraq free in now, because it can't help iraq people to be more safety, it is late in now and the more us soldiers want to come back homes too. I am codolency with US soldiers in this situation.

Not all should withdraw untill they can run thier country right with out the Clans fighting each other

I think it is a good thing in a way. We have lost too many lives as it is by now. I think they need to stand on their own two feet now. We got them this far and they should be able to take over now.

I think they will be relieved to see us go, but I don't have a lot of faith that someone just like Sodom won't take over. I don't think those different people who occupy Iraq can live together in peace for long.

I think it is a good thing to bring our troops home from over there but I dont think that much will really change once they do that. I think that the military is also on the fence on wether its a good idea or not also because they are actually sending more troops into iraq right now everyday which in the end is pointless with the whole withdraw and will just cost everyone more money to bring them home. I think that it is more of a well lets do this and see what happens more or less that noone is positive that any change will stay in place for them over there. Thats just my opinion though.
