Why did you get a credit card in the first place?

What was the reason you opened your first credit card? Was it to build credit, make a big purchase, or "just because you can"? I definitely opened it just for the sake of having a credit card. Pathetic, right? I got it 4 months after I turned 18, most likely just to feel like an adult. And now I feel like an adult..Whose in $850 worth of debt. lol. It's not such a good feeling. Why did YOU open your first credit card account? Was it for a good reason, or a bad reason such as my own?

Mine was the same. My daughter was a baby, I'd just turned 18, was married....and when I found out I could get a credit card, I took it. And immediaely began using it, LOL. And the next one. Once you have one, it's easier to ge more.

Isn't that the truth! And of course when you're younger, you're definitely more lax in your spending and don't really know how to budget as well as you might be able to when you're older. It's a trap, I'm tellin ya!

I applied for credit card because I know it was a good way to establish credit. I use it wisely. I did it as well because if you ever rent a car or try to get a hotel they wanna see a credit card for deposit. Eight hundred fifty dollars isn't too much credit card debt. Try to making more payments or to make the full amount. I don't think it's a bad decision you just have to watch what you charge and pay off the full balance or a lot per month.

My first one...well the credit card company just sent me as it was a co-branded credit card with one of the airlines with whom I was a frequent flier. They sent me and said if you want, you can accept it or tear it away...I accepted it and then applied for one more and then another...it's a great trap and once you are in, you can never get out of it...Now-a-days I prefer prepaid visa cards, where I fill in money and then use it...I hate credit cards...cheers...

Well. firstly I don't have a credit card but my opinion is that I want to own my credit card because sometimes my money will came delay and sometimes there were important things we need to buy.. In a positive side credit cards is a big help to us but we should see to it that we used it in a proper way and used it wisely..

yes, you right. i have my first card because, i can, and because other have it. one thing good about credit card is, you never need to worry about how much tips you should give.
