Being poor certainly puts a strain on any marriage but marrying for wealth is no better. Marriage should always be based on love. Love is the only thing that can hold two people together.
I have seen plenty of people that are wealthy get divorced. Money does not guarantee a happy marriage. When we take our vows we promise "to love, honor and cherish in sickness and in health and for richer of poorer". The vows recognize that the two should be in love. They also recognize that the financial situation of the couple should not matter.
You could have all the money you need one day and it be gone the next. If you honestly love the person you are with no one can take that away. So marry for love.
