Favorite Food Fish

As you know there are an endless variety of species of fish that are consumed daily. I've probably only sampled 5-10 of these in my lifetime, but my favorite food fish is ocean perch. For many years I would not eat fish at all because I was so fearful of getting a bone in my throat.I did, however, learn as I got older to take my time and pick out the bones. Of course that meant that I did not eat a lot of fish due to the amount of work that was involved with eating it. I later discovered fish sticks and breaded fish filets which were pretty good, but not quite fish, you understand. To me nothing tastes quite like fresh-caught fish. Eventually I was introduced to ocean perch, and I fell in love with it. There were not a lot of bones to contend with, and I love the taste. So what is your favorite food fish, and is there a story as to how it came about being your favorite?

This is a good question!!!! My favorite fish is Salmon!!! i have the best recipe for it.. basically take plain honey , dijon mustard, salt, pepper, olive oil and lemon juice..mix it together and rub it on the salmon. Bake for 10 minutes and its sooo delicious. Its really good served with asparagus and mashed potatoes!!!! Swordfish is good too but salmon is my all time fav!!

I've never tasted swordfish, ladybountyhunter, but I hear that it's very good! I believe that salmon is a favorite with many people.

I am not really a fish eater, I never could stomach it even as a child. The only fish I ever ate was filet of sole because it was tasteless. So even today I will have to stick with filet of sole even though I will eat trout once in a while, and I will eat salmon sandwiches as long as they are full of mayonnaise.

Lots of people think that all fish tastes about the same, winterose, but I have discovered that this is not the case. Fish, like so many other foods, comes in a variety of tastes.

I'm a lot more picky about seafood in general. For instance, when I was younger for I used to eat crab and lobster until I found out how they are...uh, killed. The idea of plunging the poor critter in boiling hot water just turned me off so completely from ever having it again. I once tried clams...yuk...yet ironically I don't mind clam chowder or oyster stew. For years the only fish my mother got was fillet of sole and that was it. I was the one to be more adventurous as I got older and began cooking in earnest ...like having salmon steaks, perch, trout, bass....my all time favorite though? Catfish! Yum...that served with hush puppies can't be beat

Catfish was my mother's favorite fish, pyewacket! I like it just fine, but I still have to defer to ocean perch.

Well I have to respond to your discussion only because I this topic in my head and was wondering if I should put it on here because to me I did not think that it woukld be a good discussion. But for me I have to say that I don't have a favorite but I do tend to eat samon more then others. I like to go fishing for trout the most though only because it is pretty easy to clean and tastes good with just a little bit of butter and fried up in the pan. No pepper or anything just the butter. Plus with trout we grew up on trout when my dad and us would go fishing when I was a little girl. As for Samon, my mom one time brought home some samon when she went grocery shopping and made it with some kind of mayo dressing stuff with other stuff in it and broiled it in the oven and man was it good. But for me I like eating fish no matter what kind it is. You are right though the fish sticks and fish filets are not the same as fresh catched fish. I have to say that I am glad you posted this discussion although I wished I would have posted it first instead of wondering if I should....LOL

I used to not like any kind of fish either. We found a good local restaurant around here and they serve white fish dinners. It is cod and I really do like it. I get fish planks from Long John Silver's also. I do not like fish with a bone in it though or any black stuff in it.

Yes the story is I got married and moved to Louisiana, being right on the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi River on the other side the road, gives you plenty of place to fish. I love fish and I have caught some mighty big ones out of both places. My favorite is fresh water cat fish. I would rather have that than any other. I love perch that is caught in the pond, the ones we get aren't very big and you gut them and cut off their heads then pan fry the whole thing. You eat it all bones and all. I am now in Ohio and fishing isn't the same. But I miss home and the fresh fish that we went out and caught.

I used to have an irrational fear of sea food. Don't know why. But you couldn't pay me to eat it. I have just started eating fish in the last few years and I am loving it! I think my favorite so far would be salmon but I am still new to it all. Once a month my sister and I go out for seafood and try something new and I haven't found anything that I don't like yet.
