Well, summer is here, and the crunch to be frugal with 4 bored kids ranging from ages 5 to 13 is making me tear my hair out.
We did a couple of local free historical sites. Museums as well. Plus an art gallery. Kids enjoyed them for the most part.
But I'm at a standstill. So, what activities are time consuming, free and fun?

My kids would ride their bikes and play with neighborhood friends. I know that is not an option for everyone depending on where you live. We would go to one of the local playgrounds. Summer programs at the library. Sidewalk chalk.
Good luck and stay cool

If you have a free public park nearby, you could makke races with prizes and other kinds of time consuming play. When I was a kid I loved to just ride on my bike. Other "old" games could be interesting for them if they could win something. Anything, even a popsicle, would do as a prize. You could even talk to their friendĀ“s mothers and make it a party.

My kids range from 8-20 and they all love going to the beach. We had done this for years in the summer. I pack lunch and we hit the local beach. I get to soak up the sun and they have a blast swimming, playing football or volleyball.
