If you have epilepsy, what symptoms did you have which brought about this diagnosis? I ask this because I had an EEG recently which showed some abnormality, particularly in the D waves (I have NO idea what they do, but I'm going to look it up).

My son has epilepsy for 15 years now. Every 6 months he goes for an EEG and it always has abnormalities. His doctor says that everyone has abnormal EEGs. I had one done just for the heck of it and mine was abnormal too. He said my son was fine as long as he takes his meds. I wouldn't worry about the abnormalities.

Thanks for the response. It's good to hear that your son is doing well on medications. I'm just going to go with the flow as far as my neurologist visit goes; whatever happens, happens.

I have had epilepsy since I was born. When I was born, the umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck which caused the lack of oxygen going to my brain, which in turn caused the epilepsy. When I was 6 months old, I took a really bad seizure and was paralyzed on my entire right side. I am now 30 years old and still take small seizures, mostly in my sleep. The last grand mal seizure I took was in 1987. I take Dilantin 100mg 3x a day to control it. Because I was paralyzed from this, there is definitely a difference between my right and left side when doing this. For instance, my reflexes on my right side are a little slower than the left. I also sometimes drag my right leg when walking, most times not even realizing it unless I trip or something because of it. My left arm and leg are both stronger than my right.
