Are You Waiting for President Barack Obama to Fail?

Seems like a question that would only have 1 answer...."Absolutely NOT" However, that does not seem to be the answer I have come accross in some of the discussions I have responded to.
There is a group of people that are actually waiting for President Barack Obama to fail...for one ridiculous reason or another, these people are actually waiting for the moment they can jump out from behind the couch and say "HA, I told you so" Furthermore, these people are American citizens.
I think it is disgusting! With everything this country is going through right now...how could you look at your leader and want him to do anything but succeed? It shocks me how many discussions I read on myLot that are negative about our President. Everything from he was not born here, to the stimulus package failing, to his middle name, to his efforts to restore relationships with other nations, to his ability to swat a damm fly accurately!!! It makes me sick.
Get over it naysayers. President Barack H. Obama is the President of these Great United States whether you like it or not. I consider myself a tough critic and I approve of the strides he is making thus far. He has been in office for less than 6 months and the man is going to work on healthcare, unemployment, stimulating jobs, communicating with the American people, seeking feedback, finding common ground where there once was none. I am here to say that I appreciate our President Barack H. Obama and I pray for him, his family and this country. Thank God for blessing and keeping him everyday.

I thought Bush was just a dummy with some sly people behind him from the start of his first pres campaign. I never wished he would fail though. I think much of this wishing Obama fails is being fueled by people like Rush who qualify it by saying they hope he will fail because his goal is to turn the U.S. socialist. I do not agree with that asessement, as I feel he is only trying to fix a system that is obviously broken. I did not like the vision Bush had for the U.S. but it is dangerous to be wishing so much bad will onto the leader of your nation, no matter if you agree with their politics or not

If you walk like a duck and quack like a duck... lol
While I have tried to listen to the enemy, Rush, I just can't.
We already have Socialism. Any senior already has Universal healthcare. (We have Social Security.) It is called Medicare and for the penniless, Medicaid. What a cash cow for the Medical Industrial Complex.
And these bailouts are almost totally Socialist bailouts for the Rich. Let us not forget that Both parties votes for the "Socialism" for the Rich what Bush was still Pres. The 2-party system smells.

I worked for Obama in Colorado and this was the first time since 1964 went majority Democrat. I am neither Democrat nor Republican and these are scary times. I believe the 2-party system is largely controlled. I do not think Obama is true insider privy to secret agendas. I think what we see, is what Obama is. I know people who think he is an evil insider...
I join you in prayers and hopes and dreams for a better world.
Obama has many enemies for many reasons. Here are two:
One: Obama is not white and some racists just cannot stand it... Recently I saw an interview of a writer or producer of "All in the Family" that was the sit-com with the racist Archie Bunker being the "star." This person was asked, What would Archie say about us having Obama as President? He replied, Obama's not really black.
Two: In the last week or two I challenged someone here on MyLot trying to attach the label King to Obama. Two days ago I watched a Christian Jew fundementalist on TV talking that God wants these bad times. He read a prophesy that the anti-Christ would show himself as a King over the World... Right here on MyLot there are fundementalist indirectly labeling Obama as the anti-Christ...
I could not be President. If somehow I had been elected, long before 6 months Congress would have impeached me.
Nasty, and I think warped, if not absolutely crazy, rich Caucasian men are currently finding it hard to dominate the world, may well try to bring Obama down, and they are quite willing to do so, even if it means WWIII. This Global economic recession was no accident. The rich are getting richer and the victims are getting blamed when they get sick and die...
These are my major concern.

The people pushing the racial devide, are a lot of the same people pushing the false left/right devide. I'm not a racists person either, but it does seem that my oposition to the policies of the current administration and congress have earned me that lable with a couple people who have been successfully brainwashed by this same perpetuated devide.

Well, guess we can't disagree with the president anymore, Steve says he's black and if we disagree with his policies, we are all racists. Darn, and I thought that I had ideological differences with Obama. Guess I was just an ignorant racist. Go figure.

I think that is the BIG Elephant in the room that no one wants to discuss. Thank you for bringing this up. It is a reality. Even I did not want to say it, but it is true, not all caucasian men think this way, but the ones that do are having a hard time dealing with President Barack Obama being a black man. Thank you for your post!

I certainly hope that his attempts to expand presidential power and bypass the system of checks and balances fails. I hope that his healthcare bill fails to pass, because I think it's a bad program and bad for America. I hope that he fails to fire all the independent investigators who are bold enough to investigate people who misuse federal funds and happen to be friends of the president.
Since he has been going to work on all these problems you list, they have all gotten much worse. I guess in the case of these problems, I don't hope he will fail, he has already done that. I hope he will find policies that actually work and switch to those.

Well, as someone who has worked my whole life and has paid taxes all of that time and paid Medicare taxes but who does not have any health insurance, I think that if I am not desperate enough to grasp at a bad health care plan, no one should be.
That's right. I not only have no medical insurance, but I also have a degenerative neurological disorder for which I receive no treatment because I can't afford it. And I STILL think Obama's health care plan is a bad one and would rather have none. Why? Because I care about my country and the direction it is heading. I love the Constitution and the principles my country was founded on. I don't want to see it turned into a socialist nation.
People need to stop seeing every candidate and every issue in terms of what they personally can get from it. Why is it that we have lost the ability to do what is right, even when it costs us something to do so?

I totally agree with you. I even think Obama is a better President than Bush, so far. I hate pessimists who don't want people to succeed just so that they can prove themselves right. These pessimists should not have say in this world because they just bring more harm than good. They just let people down and lose their hope. And we all know that what the world needs right now, especially Americans, is hope. People should not be making issues of insignificant things like Obama's name, for goodness sake. Judge him when he has been the President for one or two years already and not for a very short six months. Who could do anything in just six months anyway? I am also currently happy with the way he has been handling important matters. Americans should be cooperating with their President, not discouraging him.

I'm just wondering where you get your information from since you're in the Philippines. I have seen many people who don't live in the US seem to be staunch supporters of Obama and it makes me curious as to why.

I agree with you, it IS disgusting because it's hoping for our nation to fail and for many of the people here to continue to suffer or to suffer even more! Those who say, as Rush Limbaugh did, that they're not wishing for Obama to fail or for America to fail but for his policies to fail, I say that's bogus! Disagreeing with someone else's policies is one thing but to say you "hope" it will fail could only be because if it succeeded that would mean you'd have to admit to having been WRONG! I've already hoped I would be wrong if it meant the difference between something working or not working to help improve things in my country or my world and/or many of the people in it. I guess we might as well get used to these ill-wishers; the other night Glenn Beck and his guest Michael Scheuer spoke of how the only ting that could "save" America would be another attack by Bin Laden!

I am hoping for him to fail at implimenting his policies , which will fail. Which is quite a bit different than wanting him to fail at running the country, which I want him to be successfull at it. It is vital he do so. But he is ignoring the very things that could make him successfull at this, it is almost as if HE HIMSELF wants to fail.

I have seen this too. I don't agree with some of his stuff...he wasn't my first choice of president either. Still...he is the president and i'm willing to give him a chance. He's trying, i think. Some of the stories picking him apart are just ridiculous. there are plenty of the people just looking for something to critisize him about and are entirely closed to seeing anything positive. I didn't like bush at all from the get-go but I did try to give him a chance.

It's not a question of WANTING him to fail, it's a question of just when it may happen. Sorry to tell you this but not EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN VOTED FOR OBAMA. Some of us did not favor his policies and his 'big CHANGE' ideas, and look at the stimulus package, talk about a giant waste of money that doesn't even actually exist. I cannot see in any way, shape, or form how any of that stimulus spending has helped any average citizen. It has not lowered prices for anything for any of us, it has not forgiven any debts. It has not eased our lives at all in any measurable way, and yet if you go through all the fine print, billions of dollars have been spent or promised to programs and things that none of us even ASKED for.
Meanwhile, the things we are asking for, no BEGGING for, are going undone, uncared about by the government. People need jobs. People need LOWERED PRICES. People need a way to get back on their feet. How is that going to happen if there are not more jobs? If prices are not lowered? How about education? How in the world will we ever compete if money keeps being funnelled away from the schools? Kids are having a hard enough time without losing all the funding to provide at least a PASSABLE education! Heh. People expect a burger flipper to have a DEGREE? Well how can anybody ever even GET a degree if they can't get a decent education in K-12, enough to get ACCEPTED to a college in order to get a degree? And then if nobody has any money, how can they afford college in the first place?
By the way, universal healthcare is not the answer. Look at how people in the UK and Canada cannot even see a doctor, they can't even get an appointment for oh... months. Some people DIE while waiting for care, or something preventive and routine turns into an emergency because it took too long and now isn't 'preventable' any longer. Plus, they pay oh.... 34% in taxes, maybe even more than that! No thank you.
One more thing - I did think that you had to be born here to be an acceptable candidate. There had to have been a good reason for that back when it was a rule. I still kind of agree with it - unless someone has been a naturalized citizen and there is absolutely no chance of them turning around and pulling anything that could put the country at risk....

I'm not waiting for Obama to fail. From what I have seen so far he has already failed. What has Obama done on his own so far? He wouldn't dare and go out on a limb and do anything on his own. He must keep someone else he can blame if something goes wrong. He is the most spineless jerk I have ever seen. I am just doing my best to ignore him and hoping he will be voted out at the end of his first term.

What are the chances for Ex-governor Palin whipping Obama?
Can anyone imagine how much trouble we would be in with McCain and Palin?
I still wish that Perot had been elected for Pres.
I was and am still totally against this bailout cr*p. I did not consent to these elected contestants to get me deeper into debt.

Are you still going to be saying the same thing after the first 4 years have passed? He could have done something great for the people when he signed that first bailout. He should have refused to sign it until a lot of the fat was trimmed off of it. When he was doing so much lying trying to get elected he promised he wouldn't sign a bill like that and it was the first thing he did. If Obama gave a hoot about the American People he is supposed to be serving he could have done some great things in the first 100 days. There was a couple of moves Obama could have made that would have put most of the people behind him but being dirt stupid we wouldn't do it. Now every day he is loosing more and more supporters. The man blew his chances plain and simple.

Its interesting that you can make this assessment, before he has been in office for 6 months. This type of rhetoric is exactly what I am talking about.

Only time can answer the question.....there has big efforts that he made but the results were not even satisfactory ....the people also had so much of hopes when he was about to get into power...what was achieved in the efforts he made was so less...also the stimulus package to raise the economy from depression was not good either...also much has been emphazised on US -USSR relationship ......will they ever become closer to one other......to conclude BIG BOAST , but only SMALL TOAST.....

Yes, Pres. Obama has been getting a lot of heat, but remember that former Pres. Bush had just as many insults, from how he reacted when the Twin Towers went down,
to his "Mission Accomplished" statement, etc. Even now former Pres. Bush is getting flack from the Obama Administration about the "economy they have inherited from Bush." From what I've been hearing, people want Pres. Obama's policies to fail, not Obama himself. His policies may very well lead us to Socialism if he succeeds, that's why so many people are against his policies.

I want Obama to prove that he is the legal president of the United States and that he was born a Natural born American citizen. Also I want Obama, if he is the legal president and was not brought in by the media to further their agenda to look at all the proposals being made and decide cap and trade that will raise the price of gas and eventually food and the cost of living is not a good idea, that he will no longer fund abortion all over the world, that he will no longer favor one group the homosexuals over another, that he will allow people the right to bear arms and defend themselves against home invaders, that he will no longer encourage illegals by paying for their health care out of your money. So far he has not made a move. So he is a bad president and America will be worse. You should not just pray that Obama be kept safe and no one oppose him and for him to do what he wants, but that his ideas will make America a better place. I hope you enjoy paying $10 a gallon for gas, and having to decide whether to heat or air condition your house or having something to eat.
I want America to have a better president. I also want Americans to stop worshiping a man just because of his color and ethnic origin and assume that that is why he is the best one. Would you have criticized those against the present president if McCain had won? I think not.

Actually, we can't afford for him to fail but he already is. Many of his policies were doomed from the start to bring upon recovery from the economic crisis. Unemployment is still increasing way beyond his own teams projections. The stimulus package has yet to create any tangible jobs. His healthcare project is a mess which congress has made worse. And this great nation of ours is so much in debt, it will take generations to pay it off. I wish he would succeed but he never listened to those who stood up and warned him (so much for finding common ground, lol). The criticism even within his own camp is getting louder. With top officials admitting that they now expect unemployment to rise way above ten percent.
You claim you consider yourself a tough critic. Have you really looked into all the policies coming out of the White House, the actions Obama has taken? Or do you just see the rockstar president? What strides did he exactly make? Pushing through a stimulus package? What has it done? The money has been for the most part distributed, where are the jobs? Oh right, he now claims he saved jobs. Go back through the timeline and take a look at the statements. It might be a wake-up call.
For this country's sake I want him to succeed. Would be great. We'd all be happy, have a job, have no money problems, and no weapons aimed at us, beloved by all. Just don't see it happening. What I see is an economy that should have started its recovery phase but was pushed over the edge. I see businesses hesitant to make a move for fear that the government will take over and tell them what to do. They are sitting and waiting. They are not investing and not hiring. They are keeping a tight grip on their money and assets because they don't know what will come out of Washington.
Sorry, maybe it looks rosier in your neck of the woods. Here in my state most counties posted unemployment rates of 10% and above. The highest being 18%. A quarter of them have 14% and above. The prediction is that it will get worse. That on top of rising costs and cuts in salaries/wages/benefits. What was the stimulus money used for? Projects already in the works. Now they just didn't have to borrow the money. The city I live in had to start a costly sewer renovation project. They were court ordered to do so. They were lining up funding when the stimulus money came along. Oh and we are getting a trolley and some city official is getting a new SUV, courtesy of the stimulus fund. So there will be some jobs saved at a trolley company somewhere to build another trolley and we'll have to hire a driver although no idea where the funds will come from. They'll also work on some road improvements... done by city employees already on the payroll, just that they are now cheaper because their benefits were cut. And that is pretty much the deal in a lot of areas. They didn't have the time to consider actual need, they grabbed what they had to get their share of the stimulus pie. It's a mess.
So sorry, yes, I wish he would succeed. Maybe if he would stop and think instead of sitting on talk show couches, jetting his family across the big pond for some sight seeing while upsetting some European leaders (yes over there the support for him is decreasing in giant leap and bounds), and smiling for photo ops, ... maybe if he would consider some reason instead of pushing his agenda,.. maybe just maybe something good would come out of this.

i don't think he will fail, he has started on a good note and with the collective efforts of his cabinets as well the people of America, i think Obama is bound to succeed, but if americans sabotage his efforts i see him going no where, he should be given more time as a house is not built in a day
