Please help me with my dog with Distemper.

My dog is a Shih Tzu. The vet said he has a distemper disease, it's been a week now he does not like to eat. We just dextrose him, let him drink distilled water sometimes he drinks milk. The symptoms that he's only having are loss of appetite and very weak, always lying. Will my dog live? Please help me, I really love my pet. Sometimes I cry thinking of him when I'm at my work and he's all alone in the house.
