Hi, friend. In, my opinion a good branded laptop is a better choice than a desktop now a days. Well, it may be right the desktops are a bit higher in their configurations but laptops are also running fast. With this growing technology, laptops are very near desktops in performance. Moreover, their mobility, ease of handling and use makes them a better choice. Happy Mylotting!!

Yes it is. Most of laptop now a days are having same capability with those desktops. Branded laptops has always be good as having their quality of production is very high, though have a greater market value for common users. One of these days may reduce the use of desktops for its continued development.

Desktop is better according to my view as its configurations higher than lapy....lapy has more disadvantages..its very hard to service a lapy but we can service desktop on our own very easy....Happy mylotting :)

You are right on that. They have different disadvantage over the other. Desktops are highly customizable over the laptop. Desktop is not flexible in mobile mode where as the laptop can be anywhere we want. But the thing is, depending on the user's needs as we come up with the things that the user wants, we have to choose over the two.

Might be we forget about the mobility(anywhere anytime) of the laptop. I think this is the feature which made it so important in our life.... happy mylotting.

Good for that. As for the evolution of laptops today, they are becoming much of that with the desktops having higher specifications to match any need for computing. I am hoping to have one lappy too..

I think both have their pros and cons. It depend on the individual's requirement. As all of us know, labtop is convenient because we can bring it to anywhere we want. Besides the portability, I don't see any plus point in labtop. For those who do not need to always bring a computer with them, I think desktop will be a good choice, cause it is cheaper (compared to labtop). Also I think desctop can last longer.

Yes you are right. Depending of its use, requirement and purpose, we have to handle the differences lightly as we have to. Even if now a days that desktops are becoming more compact as that of the laptop, and laptops are much thinner and light weight, it is the user's response to what type of computer the user will be needing it.

It really depends what you need it for. If you need mobility buy a laptop. If you run big memory and graphics saping programs like illustrator CS4 and CAD design stuff, buy a Desktop. You will get more for your money and it will be easier to upgrade. I think people prefer laptops as they view them more as an accessory than a tool

How can u say lappi is not useful for heavy programs. Infact I found them better for these. AS running heavy programs have 2 problems first utilize much RAM, then there is a way to upgrade ur ram too in lappis. Also they generate much heat so they need better cooling solution. If we can give lappi rest then we must have no probssss

A laptop is better because it is light weight and portable. It can be used anywhere and it takes up very little space. Having a desk isn't necessary with a laptop. A desk top is heavy to carry so it is not portable. It must be used at a desk which it can't move from. The desktop might have a better specification but a top range laptop is way better in my opinion. My laptop is perfect for my needs. I wouldn't ever want to get another desktop.

Portability and flexibility is the key for laptop users. Mostly I see them on people that needs to have presentations on the go, having it used for lectures one on one, and other more that needs to be portable. Much of now that are available in the market are light weight in design.

I thing it depends on the user. As for me, I prefer the laptop considering that I am always traveling and use my laptop for lectures and presentation. Obviously it would be very difficult to bring the whole desktop for my kind of work. But for some, the desktop would be great most especially if you are mostly in the office.

Well for me laptop is the best i am using it right now. Its more convenient for me using laptop than desktop. And beside if i will be using desktop i need some space to put this but if laptop i can put it anywhere and i can bring it anywhere i want. Although laptop is more expensive that desktop but i think its worth it. I have also a chance to used desktop before but i can say now that laptop is the best for me. Happy mylotting

Yes, both are expensive as we have thought. Only that the desktop needs a bulk of space to put it on. Space saving devices for desktop such as an LCD monitor matching with mini-casing for the CPU would still occupy big space. That is mere the go for laptops since they can be placed anywhere for as long as we are aware of where to put it. Most of laptops today are heat generating devices though out its use so be aware to not to have those ventilations covered. Try it having tilted from one side of the base where the ventilations underneath it.

I think they have different goals and therefore it is not fair to say which one is better than the other one. Desktop is good for extensibility where the internal parts can be replaced fairly easily making upgrade much more flexible. Also, the lower price tag usually means a more powerful computer can be expected. Laptop is good for portability so if one need to travel a lot, a desktop simply cannot fulfill his goal no matter how cheap and powerful the desktop can be. So, if somebody asks me such a question, I will tell them: it depends.
