What older games do you still love to play?

Videogaming, as all gamers know, is an industry that is updated on a daily basis...new and better graphics and gaming options are becoming available constantly. I'm sure many gamers can agree with me on one thing, though: new graphics and options are great, but there are tons of older games that I still go through phases of obsession with! Which older games (really old or just not recent games) are you still heavily into or get into from time to time? Mine are: *Dungeon Keeper 2 for PC *MarioKart 64 for the N64, of course *Yoshi's Story for N64 (I am a woman, leave me alone! Haha) *Rollercoaster Tycoon *I would love to find Theme Hospital for PC again, but I can't find it anywhere online, or else this would be another obsession. So what are yours?

Ah yes, Chrono Trigger...good choices! There are so many games that simply don't age in my opinion. I'm glad I'm not the only one. :)

From what I remember, Chrono Trigger was a lot like Final Fantasy, if you've ever played one of those. I haven't played it in years, though, so don't quote me on it. :) It is like an RPG with all sorts of different characters and upgrades.

Great games! There are tons of games that I wish they would upgrade, and most of the games I want to be upgraded would still sell even if they didn't add content. Final Fantasy is one game name that would sell no matter what they put out, but I'm really hoping for a Dungeon Keeper 3 someday, although they are making one only to put out in Japan. :(

Learning Japanese to play the game...you know, I love the game that much to do that. I'll look into it, but it sure doesn't sound easy! :)

why not buy the game the game from japan?...all you need to do is learn how to read and speak japanese if you want to understand the story line and get the game system in japan to play it...just think about it you gain more then you are losing..at least you can alway go to japan and understand everyone and the new games that they never put in USA

Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, really any FF game before the PS2, Disgaea games, mostttlly RPG games but I do like action games. Likkke. Hm. Worms Armageddon, Mariokart I would still play but a family member borrowed it and I haven't seen it since.. uhh. Age of Empires, Empire Earth, ummm. I would say Diablo II but it just isn't as appealing to me as it used to be until you get into like. the middle of it. Oh, and a bunch of various super mario games. Super Mario RPG is the most fun one, I would say. I really wanted to get around to trying Paper Mario but I really haven't yet. I played it for a bit in the past and REALLY liked it but since then.. not so much. Oh, and other games like Secret of Mana(and it's sequal), Star Ocean..(aha, an "english" version of it.), and really.. Well. I like most old games. Not really that fond of shooter games that much, though. They're kind of boring and repetitive. I'm sure there are a bunch of others i'm missing!

I would have to go with Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros (the original), Sim City, and Red Alert. I don't think the original Mario games will get old, ever. They are the only reason I still hold onto my N64. And would PS2 games count as older? cuz there are several from that system that I have to break out every once-in-a-while as well :) Newer games just don't have the same appeal anymore.

O boy there are lots ha Star Wars Battlefront, LOTR Third Age, Harvest Moon for some reason I can't explain, Spiderman 2 cuz you get to websling everywhere which is awesome, NBA Street, Risk, and so on ha there are probably others that I still play, just can't think of them. I might play my PS2 more than my Xbox 360 :)

Spiderman 2 was definitely fun the first time you got to use your web to go around the city. I forget--did they have the option to do that in the first Spiderman game? Harvest Moon is a very good game. You actually brought one up that I do love. My favorite is Magical Melody but all of them get me so attached to all the characters! Great storylines, original gameplay...the only thing that could make it better is if you got paid for the work you did! :)

I agree with you: Mario games never get old! My personal favorite of the older ones is Super Mario World, but I usually have to watch my husband play it because I've never been very good at the Mario platformers. :) Sure, let's add some PS2 games in the list as well. What are your favorite PS2 games? I have a few favorites from that system, but wasn't going to add PS2 games until someone else did. My favorite game ever, Shadow of the Colossus, is on that system. :)

Well, I'm a 30 year old mother of 3 kids that play games often and they laugh at me when I break out my old game systems. For the original Nintendo, I like to play Super Mario Bros.(1,2,&3), Duck Hunt, Contra, Kung Fu, Karate Kid, Dragon Warrior, Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf, Tetris, and probably more I forgot about from my childhood. For Super Nintendo: Yoshi's Island, Super Mario World, Kirby's Island, and Sim City Nintendo64: 007, Mission Impossible, Mario Kart and Zelda Nintendo Gamecube: Mario Party (ALL), Super Monkeyball Sega (all systems): ALL Sonic the Hedgehog games & Star Tropics Playstation (all): The Sims Original, Mortal Kombat, Crash Bandicoot, and The Urbz I don't usually play on the updated newer game systems and almost always revert back to my good 'ol Nintendo from 1984.=)

It's wonderful to hear of a parent playing games still! All of those games were super fun back in the day, but definitely still are when you pop them back in. :) Your kids hopefully will realize someday how cool of a mom you really are. :) My friend's mom would always play videogames with us and it really made me admire her. Now with the Nintendo Wii available, I'm hoping more and more parents will play videogames with their kids. It's something great and fun to do together!

Haha this is a great question. I still occasionally play the original pokemon yellow for gameboy color, mariokart 64, and the first halo for the pc, and the first roller coaster tycoon. I'm actually really surprised halo for the computer is still going strong with about 1-2 thousand active players! I love that game and I don't think it will die anytime soon.

I'll be honest; I had no idea Halo was on the PC. It makes sense with Microsoft and everything, obviously, haha. I didn't even get into the Halos until last year long after the third one came out. I had never owned an Xbox before then! It was impossible not to hear of Halo as a big gamer such as myself, but I didn't know what the hype was about until I actually tried it. The first rollercoaster tycoon was the best. I hated how in the second one you either charged for rides and not the park, or vice versa. I wanted to charge for both! Haha. It took the actual tycoon feeling from it.

I haven't really played games for awhile, but my husband just bought me a wii so I am getting into it more. I did go through a spell where I was addicted to the sims. There are a few games that are older that I doubt I will ever bore of, that is Pac Man, Super Mario for the Super Nintendo... I love those games, and would love to find it on a different system, I am sure I could on wii ware, but am not sure how to to be honest.

That definitely makes me want to get the internet on the wii... what do I use a usb cable, and I guess I need the wii points cards right? Where do you stand on the wheel vs. controller and nunchuck when it comes to mario kart for the wii?

Hey! If you have your Wii connected to the internet, you can download and go into the Shopping Channel. There are two types of Wii Ware: old games that are remade for the Wii, and new games that up and coming game developers can put out to see how popular they get. You can find Super Mario, Super Mario World, Mega Man, Zelda, etc. on the Wii Ware channel. The Sims is a classic game. You have good tastes.

Don't be sorry! That's an awesome list of games. I tried to play Sonic when I was younger...for some reason, platformers aren't my area. I love them, but if I play them I have to be prepared to just laugh at myself rather than expect to do well. :) You liked Yoshi's Story as well? I've loved the game since I first played it years and years ago, but saw it was a disappointment for many people when I went online to look for tips on secret areas and such. That is ONE platformer I'm awesome at! GTA3 was by far--in my opinion--the best GTA. San Andreas was good...Vice City was okay...but the third one was always the best to me. Great list!

Wow, I haven't heard of that one for awhile now! Wasn't Starcraft the game where you were trying to take over parts of land on a planet and you had a bunch of races trying to beat you to it? I think that was the game my brother bought years and years ago, and I picked it up one day and played it. That was a lot of fun!

I still love playing Tecmo Super Bowl on SNES. All of the Mario Bros games, as well as Donkey Kong. Even some stuff on N64 like the older Madden games. Ahh, memories. I think I still have the original Mario Bros cartridge game for NES. I might go play now hah...
