I guess we all knew this was comming. Apparently we need to find more work for congress, or maybe we just need to find a new congress that does some actual work besides wrcking the country or introducing stupid and frivilous bills. Here it is, resolution 600, A Tribute to an American Legend and Musical Icon....yep...michael Jackson. It isn't bad enough I am completly with out propper news coverage today...now this?
For Pete sake people, there are far greater things to deal with

Here's the bill. Apparently Michael did a lot of other things aside from making music...and a fortune.

Sorry, it was the last straw for me. I saw Represenative Jackson (no relation) speaking at the memorial (have it on in the back ground in case the world goes to hell while we are watching this stuff) and heard her pontificating on this resolution and I began to twitch.

seems to me that even as he topped the charts with his music, he topped the charts on the hearts of everyone he helped thru his charitable works.
Again, we see so much of the hype and hoopla around his life, especially the negative but we never saw the goodness he did around the globe and more so for those who are really in need.

Nice display of ignorance there. Congress is loaded with Obama's cronies. They can pass any bill they want without a single republican vote from the house or senate. Bush and anyone in congress loyal to him have absolutely no power or influence whatsoever.

congress is BUSH influenced? a staunch democratic congress is Bush influenced?
Anyway...
Great point Task. I wish I could hang around in the gallery of congress and yell at them every time they start fooling around and wasting time like this. When I have a regular job, I have a boss hanging over me, yelling at me if I am wasting time, and so should they.

What we need to do is restore the part time Congress. At one time Congressmen actually had to have real job, hard to believe but true. I know it is hard to imagine your local Congressman or woman actually working for a living like the rest of us subject. I think that if they actually had to have a real job they would not come up nor have the time for moronic bills like this.

It isn't so hard for me to imagine, it's how our state legislarture runs, citizen volunteer legislature, last one in the country I think. They get a few hundred bucks a season plus milage and they all hold regular jobs, run businesses, etc. I think this is exactly how congress should be run.

They took the time to actually read this bill? I guess show biz interests them more than boring cap and trade stuff. Here's an idea - from now on, copies of all proposed legislation are given to members of Congress wrapped inside a National Enquirer cover. Maybe they'll read through it before they realize that there aren't any articles about Rihanna or Britney Spears.

Ah, didn't this guy get accused a couple of times for molesting boys???
Ok, he paid one family off and the other he was found innocent, ok but isn't it proven fact he slept with little boys in the same room???
Now congress wants to pass legislation honering him??
Secondly all the black people that are going nuts over him right now, he wanted to be white??

There are not only better things for the government to deal with, but there are also plenty of people who deserve this honor just as much as michael jackson. If the government recognized every humanitarian, we would need another branch of government.

I have seen everything now. I am speechless that Congress would pull something like this. How very sad.
