Why Did Palin Resign her Office as Governor of Alaska?

Why do you think she walked away from her office?
Do you think she wants out of politics?
Do you think she lost touch with Alaskans in her quest to conquer other political areas?
Do you think she was 'shaking the sugar tree' to get the public eye to take note of her again?
Most importantly,
Do you think there may be another surprise yet to come from her?
I'm betting there will be.

Well, since she's going through a federal investigation for embezzlement right now, she's probably resigning to save face and prevent anyone from firing her.
I don't doubt that Palin has something up her sleeve, she always seems to pop up in the political spotlight when you least expect it.

Okay, I had read a Palin article here on mylot that had said she was under investigation. I guess I need to go back and tell the guy that posted it that it's just a rumor.

according to FOX News palin resigned because of the ethics complaints that had been brought up against. They said that those 16 complaints cost the state 2 million dollars in them handeling the complaints and that most of them were dismissed. but personally I think after the run she had with McCain that things were so dirty and got to her family as well. I know she had the tennager having the baby right? If that wasn't enough scruitny I don't know what is. I feel sorry for her just for that because having to help a child raise a child is hard because thats what my mom is doing with me and I'm 26 years old. It's hard to become financially independant in this world now and they said that palin was some where of to a half million in debt. you could possibly see how all this could be affecting her family as well. anyways, just thought I'd pass it along.

I didn't know she was that much in debt but I think she's writing a book so I hope that helps out her family. And I imagine she'll do some speaking tours and get paid for those.
Sounds like her job was costing her money and that ain't right.

Why she left;
Claim:personal legal expenses, time with family
WIT (what I think): She's hitting a brick wall in Alaska due to lower pipeline income.
Prices up = happy Alaskans. prices down = unhappy Alaskans
Out of Politics:
Claim: She says she wants out of the spotlight, not out of politics.
WIT: no way is she done, she enjoys the attention far to much to stop now. Who invites paparazzi to their family get-aways?
Shaking the sugar tree: (not exactly sure I understand the term, but I'll wing it!)
WIT:Mrs P likes and maybe even NEEDS to be the center of attention, like a petulant child, she comes across as spoiled and bitschy, even as polarizing as she is, she GETS attention, both good and bad. Who was it that said "ANY publicity is good publicity"? spot on .
Surprises? Only if she poses in a skin rag, nothing else would surprise me.

'Shaking the Sugar Tree' refers to someone who gets desperate for attention so they do something wacky to get it. Usually used to describe someone who's in a relationship and does something out of fear of a break up like saying they are pregnant or fake an illness.

Hey there, showpup... (BTW, like your nic)
As to do I think she was shaking the sugar tree and may there be another surprise from her? Absolutely, "you betcha"! She thrives on attention and probably didn't feel like she had been receiving enough lately.
As for do I think she wants out of politics? Hope so! *lol* Am not sure, but I really do believe she must have lost touch with her fellow Alaskans, not only by abandoning them as THEIR governor, but also SO unexpectedly. She announced her resignation, like what... about three weeks prior to the fact? Pretty short notice, if ya ask me.
As I posted before in another thread here, I'm wondering if hopefully finally someone somewhere, has decided to come forth with some substantial evidence about other "stuff" mentioned previously and perhaps Sarah Palin thought best to get out of office, instead of waiting to be thrown out! *wink wink*
But as I have also read very recently and posted by anniepa, she could not receive the money from her book, while still in office?!? So perhaps it all, afterall... does boil down to the simple fact of "show me the money". Only time will tell for sure! "You betcha." *grinning good-naturedly*

And her book may have been written with the path to the Oval Office in mind as well. And like I said earlier... gotta have some press, good or bad, before a release of a book if you want to make money when you're someone like Sarah Palin and people may not be drawn to your story otherwise. "Get it while it's hot".

I think she was worn out by all the attacks on her kids, did not want to keep wasting Alaska's tax dollars defending the endless lawsuits and investigations being brought against her and felt she could no longer be effective as governor given the political climate. I think Palin is full of surprises. "Keep 'em guessing" may turn out to be a good strategy if she does remain active in politics.

as with the latest i saw on the net palin's resignation has something to do with an ethics committee.
i don't think she wants out of politics. politicians are made of stern stuff and unless forced by humiliation due to a public scandal, mostly extramarital affairs, all of their moves are well-timed and calculated.
as for another surprise from sarah palin, there sure would be. she's sarah palin.

The more I listen to her the more I do believe that she feels in her heart that her calling is to the national stage in the lower 48, and everytime she turns around the libs are throwing ethics complaints at her costing her state's citizens lots of money. Being that he calling is the white house she can now head all over the lower 48 and bring her message home to the people that support her.
Was it a good move?? Time will tell, I'm suspect even though I do and will support her.

I think she's going to try to run for President. Is building up for it, I think. It makes sense, considering how many people would apparently vote for her; according to a recent vote, 7 out of 10 republicans. That's a ton of people, but I don't think many democrats would vote for her, so that might not help much.

Yes, I agree. And to do that, she needs to keep those voters primed and focused on her. She can't just disappear until the next election.
Regarding democrat votes.... Oh! But she will! A good chunk of female democrats would love to see a woman in office. Period!
