Yeh the Ashes has started, hope this one turns out to be a good contest. Who can forget the Ashes of 2005, what an epic series that was. I dont think any series can beat that one. Anyway back to the Ashes of 2009, yesterday was a good day of test cricket and things look even. It looks like the pitch will produce some turn, so England will be in the drivers seat if they manage to get around 370 or more.
Its really difficult to predict who will. Australia are not as strong as they use to be before, both teams look even on paper. I think winning the first test will mean a lot for both teams, it will give them some momentum leading into the next few tests. All that being said I still think Australia will win the series, probably 2-1. All the best to both teams, looking forward to some exciting cricket!

I am hoping that Aussies will win. But with the retirement of some of their best players It is quite bleak and seems hopeless specially that they are playing in English soil . We'll just have to see what happens Aussies still have to bat anyway.

England have got an edge over the Australian team since the series is being played in their backyard. Plus yesterday, batting first, they made up a formidable total and still have chances to better it having some wickets left on the second day. England would be looking to dominate the once depleted side of Australia and this is the perfect time for them in the Ashes.

England and Australia shares equally the Honour of Day-1. With England 336-7 at stumps on Day-1, it is evident that the fortunes of day-1 has swinged from side to side. It's an absolutely awesome innings from Pietersen, Prior, collingwood and Flintoff supported them well. On the other hand Hilfenaus, Johnson bowled their heart out. Although Siddle had no luck earlier, at the later stage of the game, he managed 2 vital break throughs of Flintoff and Prior. Both looked extremely fluent and literally took the game away from England. It is siddle who arrested that smooth momentum of England and definitely there is an exciting 2nd day ahead in the cards. This is the best way to begin the Ashes 2009 and I wish Australian and England stage a solid fight back so that the entire series turns out to be a treat to be watched and i am eagerly expecting that. My best wishes to both the teams out there.
