The reason I think about it is things, laws, regulations etc here gets me really frustrated... I have immigrant here ofr about couple months, everything is very very different from my home country, for example, we don't need to pay tax for anything besides smokes and alchhol. Recently, weather seems to be better, hubby suggested we can go to the beach and dig clam, all the fun stuff, he told me he needs to go get the town beach sticker in order to be able to go to the beach and park and you cannot go to other town's beach without the sticker... (I never heard of that before...) I am very interested in digging clams, we need to get another license for that! Clam is in the ocean, from the nature, the government doesn't own it! The other thing is we cut down the trees recently and need to dumb them, then we need to get another sticker for that! What crap! I think the Governemtn is just trying every single ways to make money from us! Maybe I just feel double frustrated because the laws are very different in my home country, what do you think?

Hello mermaidivy, I really don't know about this as I don't have any experience living overseas. Even though living in America sounds good and too tempting to resist, I still feel that my motherland is the best. I love to be around my people and to live in a place that I am used to. There are a few aspects of life here that I don't like too, but all in all I think it is still good to be here in my own country

Yes I love to live here. I was born and raised here so I dont know any other way of life and I have to say, we have all 4 seasons, beautiful historical monuments to visit, freedoms to get any jobs that we have an interest in...and so much more!! I am not sure where exactly you are but here in Michigan, yes you have to get a license to do certain things, but I have never heard of buying a beach sticker unless you mean a pass to the parks.. but that is to keep the parks clean and upkeep on them and they last all year for the annual pass. I am sorry to hear you are having such a hard time adjusting but I hope that things go well and eventually you enjoy it here!!

Yes, we do pay a lot of taxes for everything to live here. Unfortunately government spending has gotten way out of control and is majorly in debt so all of us are paying for it by paying more and more taxes. I still have to say that I like to live here, especially as a woman, I have heard a lot of things about many other countries where women are treated like second class citizens, I would not like that at all. I also like that we have many freedoms here. We may have to pay for it but we can usually do what we want here.

Life as an adventure. - Life is a game filled with compelling choices. We’re presented with a wide variety of choices for skill building, resource acquisition, relationships, and more. As we age our decisions tend to become more complex, since childhood priorities no longer hold the same appeal.
Umm, I dont know really. If 'living' means a permanent address then I really dont think so. It sure can be nice to live there, different settings, different environment, different culture, different people, all things different in general. However, Im pretty much home bound. 3 generations of my family have lived here in this very region and we're pretty deep rooted so it would be kinda difficult to leave this place. An extended vacation that would last more than a month can be manageable but 'planting my roots' to live a whole new life in the US and just visit here when all of my family is here..? I really dont think so. Well, in your case, maybe you havent adjusted yet to the way of life there. Think of it as an adventure game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you make the wrong decision, and sometimes you just happen to make the right one at the right time. However you play that game of life there, it all just adds to your experience. Goodluck and Have fun!^_^

Hmm.. I think US is a nice place. Nice beaches, nice malls to shops, a lot of new products that hasn't reached my country yet. Maybe I could find a new opportunity there, sure I would love to go there. But live in the US? I don't think so.. I love my country and I think I can never live happily anywhere else. Though my country isn't the perfect one and the fields here are not greener I would still stay here. It's hard to live in foreign countries. Laws are different and I think government are more stricter in other countries and I might not be able to like it. Not that I can't follow them but it's hard to be somewhere you're not familiar with. Besides, my family, relatives, friends and everything about and connected to me is here in the Philippines so, I'd rather stay here. For me, other countries are just for visits. Ciao!

It is but natural. In an alien world you are also an alien. In your native country you are native so you see this is all but natural. Once you get accustomed to their scheme of things, you will feel ok. Take it as a study tour and enjoy. meapas.

I always wanted to live in the states ever since I could remember. I even ask my mom to accept the proposal of her BF from Texas because I really wanted to be there. The climate is great so is the Economy. But now things have changed.I still want to go there see the beautiful places that AMERICA has to offer but I don't want to live there forever. I've learned to love my own country in the long run.

I don't want to live in the US but I want to go there to work and have something to gain. I have an impression that the US have taxes and other forms of charges that is for their government to maintain their service to their people and I think it is not only in the US but also in a progressive country.
