Does anyone have experience with planning a road trip across America? I have decided that even if I go alone I am going to do it because it's something I really want to do! I just don't know if there are any websites that will make it easier to plan the whole thing, or any books or anything?! At the moment I know the kind of places I want to go but don't know what steps to take next.. money isn't much of a problem really.
If you have been on a roadtrip or are planning one it would be great to hear from you!

I suggest looking at the Greyhound website. It will show you timetables. A travel guide book like Lonely Planet USA would give you an idea of which destinations you would like to see. I have been to some lovely places in California like San Diego, Santa Barbara and San Francisco. If I had the chance I would probably enjoy visiting Boston and Cape Cod. You are going to on road trip so some movies would be great for you to watch like Planes Trains and Automobies and A Lot Like Love. Happy traveling.

We used to go on road trips all the time. Of course, that was 30 years ago and I wasn't involved with the planning of it. I take it that your vehicle is in good shape. Is it a car or RV of some sort. That would make a difference. Would you want to camp or stay in hotel/motels? Once you know that, you can probably look at websites about campgrounds or national parks or lodging of various types. I'm not sure if they have planners or not. If nothing else, you could check with AAA. I'm sure they would have some kind of planner. Have a great trip!!!
