Here is Utah Food Storage is all the rage. I was wondering if people outside of Utah participate in food storage. Storing food for emergencies such as natural disasters, loss of employment, crop failure, whatever? Do you store food?

I am working on it. In the past I have had quite a bit stored up but because of various financial happenings and such (job losses and money problems) we have used quite a bit of what I had stored. Luckily we did have that excess food storage available or we would have been very hungry. I am working on stocking everything back up now. I also stock personal care things as well. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, TP, shampoo and soap. It helps in the long run!

wow, I'm glad that you had food storage too. I'm sorry about the bad circumstances, but I think that you are pretty amazing to have been prepared for them.

I would say tht I am pretty well stocked. I have a full pantry that I like to keep full at all times. I also have an extra freezer that I like to keep full as well. When ever I find really great bargains on meat I will buy it and freeze it. I believe we could survive at least a month if not more on the food we have stored in the house without having to go shopping, of course we would have to forgo fresh dairy products, and fresh fruits and vegetables.

I think that is great. Best to always be prepared. I think I could probably make it a month as well, but I'm not sure I'd enjoy eating what we have in storage. Beans, Pasta, Rice would get old quickly if that is all I had to eat.
