For those of you who own a business, do you utilize Facebook as a marketing tool

I own a family child care business, and I recently started a Facebook page for it. I don't know how great it will be for promoting the business, but it's been a great tool for keeping parents updated on what's going on, sharing child care news, and promoting my Examiner.com articles.
Anyone else had success using Facebook as a marketing tool?

I joined facebook 2 years back with the same purpose of promoting my business but unfortunately it turned out to be a total waste of time.You will be astonished to see so many people with so many business and not a single person ready to share your concept.

Yeah, I was certain how successful it would be for promoting my business, but it does work well for me to communicate with my clients. Since all they have to do is become a Fan to get updates.
I really like the system where you can be a Friend or a Fan. On myspace I liked getting updates from my favorite musical artists and local celebs, but always thought it was strange to 'friend' someone I didn't really know.
