I saw on the news that the Russian people barely noticed that President Obama was in their country. There wasn't much in their media so I wonder how many even knew he was there.
I was wondering how much communication the ordinary folk have between Russians and Americans. Email? Cell phones? Internet? Maybe if we each had a personal contact with someone in Russia we'd get to know each other as people who share the same hopes and dreams for the world and there would be less fear and hatred.
What do you think?

Hello youdontsay,
I am sorry if my response is a bit steer away from your topic I am not but my husband is. He is a Russian but working and staying with me in Malaysia. I do feel that Russians are cold and very straightforward people. They don't really care about others if it's none of their business. They are good at keeping their feelings inside, and don't like to talk about 'everything' sometimes. Anyway, my husband knows about Obama went there and his remarks about Putin. Well, he didn't share his views about this with me!

Thank you for responding! I am pretty rusty on my geography, so many things have changed since I was in school so many decades ago.
It must be hard to live and work away from one's homeland. I hope it is working well for your husband and for you. The world is more and more complicated but caring about each other, even folks we'll never meet, is a beginning for peace and cooperation.
