Durian is called the king of fruit and is very popular in my country! It is green with thorns, what is inside is what you should eat: the yellow one. Right now is currently the season for this fruit. A lot of people love it for is taste, but many hate it for its smell. So much that when I actually try to search for durian pictures on the web, I found one where at a place, durian is not allowed to be brought inside (along with like pets and all that you don't normally allow at an office building). I mean, a specific rule for not allowing durian at a place means it is really smelly yeah!
You can look at pictures http://www.durian.se/durians/
You can try to google for the not-allowed picture I mentioned above!
But for me, I love the taste. Can't even begin to describe it, lol!

Yeah crazynified, durian is the most popular fruit in our country. I like this king of the fruit very much. I love its smell as well as the creamy flash very much. Thanks for sharing so many pictures related to durian here
There was a durian fair held from 17th to 19th this month in the Bukit Gangtang rest station of the highway. My hubby and I purposely drove there to participate the cheerful durian fair. Per entrance fee was RM7.90. It is equivalent to $2.20 usd. We could pick whatever type of durian we love available there. A bottle of small plain water was served at the same time as well.
It was really worthy as we could take as much durian as we could. We had tried 5 durians with different varieties. Wow, all of them were really delicious! Surely we couldn't get such good quality durian with such low price at any other stall outside
Wish you all the best and happy posting!

There are still lots of durians available in my place now. We could see piles of durians under the shade by the road sides. Durian freaks are busying picking their favorite fruits respectively. It’s so interesting to see different people have their own way to choose the fruits. Some like shaking it, some like smelling it whereas the others like knocking it. Quite funny eh ....
I like buying durian from a stall which I’m familiar. Most of the durians sold there are good quality as well as the price is reasonable too. The man would pick the type of durians according to my taste. He knows this very well for I’m his regular customer
Really, we are from the same country. Well, I know this after visiting your profile. Seems that you are still new here. Welcome to mylot and have fun posting here often. Have a nice day!

Yep i know now its the season of durian, I can see it all around me...
But i can't simply take its smell, so even never dared to taste it. Though had some tropical fruit flavoured candies(had durian flavour too), but didn't liked it much..
You know you are prohibited to take durian, in all flights too..

Well yeah, most people do not dare to taste it coz of its smell. It's understandable it's prohibited in flights, there are many people in the small-spaced plane; you don't want the smell to spread all around the area throughout the flight! Even that happens to me, I won't be too comfortable with it although I like eating the fruit.
Thanks for your response!

Yes, i and my family likes to eat durian. We even bake durian cakes when the durian are cheap. Yeah, i ever remembered that when i was still working, my one of colleague had bought 2 fruits of durian for eat in the office. My manager asked us to off the air-cond for 1 hour, just to make sure that the durian smell don't get stick into the air-cond filter. So, everyone of us had to sit in the office for 1 hour without air-cond just because we want to eat durian. From that day onwards, we never buy any durian for eating in the office anymore.

Really! I wonder which country do you stay?
Indeed most people hate the smell, but love the taste!
Even I know it's just better to finish off some of the fruit left to be stored in the fridge rather than keep them any longer, since the fruit just makes almost everything else in the fridge smells like durian as well! Not good, lol...

We have that here in the Philippines. It is abundant in Davao because the soil there is very suitable to durian. I haven't taste the fruit because it is very expensive here in Manila. It is taste good when it is made into candy and other products like ice cream or bread. You need to endure the smell of it if you want to eat it at first. It is acquired taste to this fruit.

Crazynified. You've mentioned my favourite fruit. I've been eating it ever since I was a small children. It is seasonal, therefore, my family and I would always look forward to have a feast of durian together.
Durians came in different grades and different tastes. I grew up eating kampung durians. But as of now, I'll only eat the Musang King durian, King of the Durian King. It cost about MYR25 a kg and one piece of durian can weight 4KG to 5KG. It is definitely worth the price to chow on this priced food.
Eating durians causes side effect of heat within the body, which could lead to sore throat. In order to fend off the heat within the body, the old and wise taught us to drink water from the husk of the fruit. It was said the husk contain a reversing cooling effect to the body. I've tried it before and it indeed work. Not sure if it was placebo effect.
The smell of durians will stay in your mouth for about 1 day or so. To me, it is like perfume. To some, it is like rotten garbage smell.
Crazynified. Thank you for bringing this topic to me. I love the durians.
Cheers.
