Before, I used Yahoo Messenger when I talk through the internet with my brothers or other relatives who live abroad. However, I noticed some intermittent signals whenever I talk to them and there are delays.
When I discovered Skype, I came to appreciate it more than the Yahoo Messenger. Now, I'm more of a Skype user.
How about you, what do you usually use, Skype or Yahoo Messenger?

Well Skype is anytime better compared to yahoo. The quality is very good. Now a days there is one more insturment in market which gives you facility to call any US numbers for complete year in just 20$. That is called as MagicJack. The cost is really very low, as compared to Skype or Yahoo. And there are other features as well. I usually do my conference with Skype only, but I found this insturment more cheaper and better in comparison of quality as well.

I don't spend a penny when I use Yahoo Messenger or Skype. It's all free.

You only need to spend money when you want to call any land line or Cell no. in US. Else it is free to talk between computers. I usually have to join conference calls so I need to have balance in my account, and it is very cheap compared to ISD calling from India.

I don't know that QQ and haven't heard of that. I guess it works like Yahoo messenger or Skype, right?

I hate MSN and got really tired of Yahoo. A few years ago when Skype first came out I signed for it but never really used it. Too bad because at that time you could call landlines for free up until the end of that year. I did test it out and it was a bit buggy at the time. Last year I decided to try it again and have talked to a few friends on there that have Skype as well. I'm thinking of upgrading so I can call Landlines. One drawback is that here in Canada we can't get our own Skype number and that sucks. If I could have a number I would get a cordless hookup and try their other features as well. Too bad.

We also can't get a free call with Skype here in our country but it doesn't matter to me for as long as I can be in touch with my loved ones abroad, that's fine with me. I just wish that we can someday call landlines for free. Thanks for responding.

I use both skype and yahoo messenger. Most of my friends chat using yahoo messenger, so I keep to chat with them with yahoo messenger. Only a few of them installed skype on their PC. For voice chat I prefer skype. Using Skype the voice became clear, better than using yahoo messenger. If only want chat with instant messages, I prefer yahoo messenger.

I agree with you that the voice is clearer in Skype while it is more convenient to sen d messages via Yahoo messenger.

Same with me. I find Skype to be much better than yahoo messenger. Once i used yahoo messenger. Then started using skype. I found that voice and video is far better in skype than yahoo messenger.

Absolutely right. The video and voice is not good in Yahoo Messenger unlike in skype

I also used Yahoo Messenger as a communication medium with relatives abroad. As you said, YM does not give a really satisfying output. There are times that it takes centuries before I'm online. Its really frustrating because my relatives have been waiting.
But Skype made a huge difference. It took sometime to maneuver through Skype. Because I was so into YM in the past. Now, I only use Skype in communicating with my relatives.

I agree with you. Yahoo messenger is frustrating at times because you cannot get a good signal when you talk to your loved ones abroad. Skype is much better in terms of signal.

I haven't tried to use Yahoo Messenger. Two of our daughters have Skype downloaded on their computers so we are able to talk to each other on a regular basis. It's been a fun thing to see our grandkids and talk to them. They live quite a distance from us so this has been a real treat. Skype is a good service but of course it's not quite the same as actually visiting in person.

Personally I use a universal IM.
It connects all my friends from YIM, AIM, ICQ and Myspace.
It allows for other IM's to be added as well, but those 4 are where all the people I know are on.
It's a nice free program and makes things so much easier.
I've never really liked Skype to much, it slows my PC to much.
