I think england has upper hand in ashes series. Australian attack is bit weak without hayden, gilli ,mcgrath and warne. Ponting is also not in his form with inform lee. If england players perform upto their expectations then sure the ashes series is for england

Both these teams are on same level.. and its for first time in years that you can compare both.. or Australia have always gone as a stronger and dominant team in ashes for years. Ya england can benefit from home conditions and crowd support but thats the only "upper hand" i can see. And most of the players showing good form is a real good sign and one can say for sure that it will be a closely fought and exciting series.

At stumpst on day two I would say Australia has the upperhand. But England are not far behind. Ponting and Katich did well the finish off unbeaten and will be looking to build on. They will need to score a lot of runs in the first innings if they want to win. It will be difficult to bat in the fourth innings and so the rest of the batsmen would like to score big, especially since they have a very good platform. England will need quick wickets today if they are to contain Australia.
